Kikelomo's POV
"Your hair has become longer now, omo mi." My mother said. "Thank you maami. I will go for a haircut later." I told her. I was an only child which meant that my mother loved me. After papa's death, my mother loved in misery. I am her only means of survival. As my mum finished plaiting my hair into two shuku, I got up and went to carry a half. "Hah. Where are you going?" My mother asked. "There's no water so I'm going to fetch water." I told her casually. "No. I don't trust any of those perverted men in this village. You'll stay home." My mother said. I knew she was right. No man has ever not tried to defy me. Though they all ask for a relationship first, I knew what lied beneath their smiles and complements. "I will be fine. I promise to be back early." I told her. I went out of the house not knowing that I will never come back.
