F**king Asshole

So without further ado...

I give you Nuri.

“Okay, Nuri, you can do it; I mean, it’s just another stupid confession. I mean, what’s the worse that can happen?” I speak to myself in the mirror while twirling my sky-blue hair around my index finger. Well, he can reject you again and never talk to you. I slam both my hands into my cheeks. “Alright! It’s now or never. Fuck, that hurt.”

I check my outfit in the mirror, and just as I apply some lipstick… I think this skirt will make him swoon. Bam! Bam! “Nuri! Hurry up, or I am not driving you to school.” My hand slips, and a curved line forms on my cheek. Fuck now I look like the Joker. The door opens, and in comes none other than Dimitri. My eyes widen, and I quickly wipe the lipstick off, applying lipgloss instead.

“Just give me a moment. I will meet you down….” I turn and, in mid-sentence, freeze. The man before deserves a podium so I can worship his fine ass. Dimitri Cunningham, the son of Gabriel and Vaella Cunningham, stands before me. “Oh, forgive me, my lord, I have not, the time to clean the room. You must excuse the mess.”

I dramatically bow, and when I peak up, he is already heading for the door. “You have two minutes. Or your lord is leaving you.” He picks up his book bag by the door and walks down the hall. Well, Nuri, you sure fucked that up. I hear his car starting and quickly grab my things, hauling my ass out the front door. “You should have given me more than two minutes, you sexy-but-unfair man.”

So much for confessing, ah well, it will have to wait until later because right now, my lord is about to have me walk to school. As I run down the stairs and his car comes into view, I smile as I see the passenger door open. My lord is too kind to me. I dramatically place my hand on my chest and hop in the car, throwing my bag in the backseat.

“Why the hell do you take so long to get ready?” His golden-emerald eyes look me up and down slowly. Calm down; heart now is not the time to be erratic. “Ahem, Dimitri, if you must know, a woman must take her time to….” He interrupts me with his hearty yet deep laugh. “You? A woman? Who are you trying to fool?” You… “You don’t see me as a woman?”

Dimitri pierces me with his gaze before he shakes his head, doubling over, laughing as if I’ve made a joke. “Sometimes I forget you are a woman. If it weren’t for your luscious breasts, you would make a pretty man; now buckle up.” Dimitri, surely you are toying with me, right? You don’t mean those words, right? I feel my eyes sting.

“What a rude thing to say….” I mumble, buckling my seatbelt and turning my face away from him. He drives off and heads to the campus. When we arrive, he parks in his designated spot at the front of the building. A crowd, mainly females, surrounds the car. “Oh my goodness, Dimitri is here!” Someone yells.

I grab my bag from the back seat and exit the car. “Ugh, why does she get to drive with him every day. Hey Dimitri, she isn’t your girlfriend, right?” The car beeps, indicating that it has locked. The unbothered cold prince Dimitri ignores her and walks up to me. “Hey idiot, that bag is mine.” I look at the bag in my hand and then the one in his, spotting a pink fur ball key chain.

“Oh, sorry…” We swap bags and head our separate ways. “Hey, Nuri!” A shrill voice calls behind me. Ugh, plastic fairy… I put on my best fake smile and turn stiffly. “Yes, how may I help you?” I say in almost a robotic tone. The blond walks up to me. “Hand this over to Dimitri when you see him in class.” She hands me an envelope. I’m assuming it is a love letter.

“You know he doesn’t like these things, right?” I state dryly. “Oh, are you suddenly an expert on all things Dimitri?” Yes, I am. In fact, I started a whole online fan club in his honor. Not to mention I’ve seen him naked numerous times, and I know everything about him. “Fine, Tasha, I will let him know it came from you.” She smiles, smacking her gum. “Good, I will be waiting by the door. Make sure he reads it.” She turns on her heel and walks away.

I look down at the pink-colored envelope. Is this considered womanly? Sighing, I head to class and sit in the back. “Here, Tasha told me to hand this over to you.” Grimacing, he looks down at the envelope in my hand. “Throw it in the trash; you know I hate that sort of thing.” I place it on his desk. “It’s not my place; you do it.” He grabs it and gets up, but I hold onto his sleeve.

“At least read it first….” I say quickly as I catch Tasha waiting by the door. He sighs and sits down, opening the envelope. After skimming through the contents of the letter, his frown worsens. Tch told you he didn’t like it. Dimitri gets up and walks to the door where Tasha is waiting. “No. I don’t have a girlfriend and don’t want one.” He hands her the letter, but as he turns to come back to class, she grabs his arm.

“Oh no…” I mutter; he hates being touched by people he isn’t close with. He even gets mad if I touch him sometimes. “Trisha, let go of my arm, or I will break yours.” It’s Tasha. Weren’t you listening to me? I smack myself in the head. “Dimitri, my name is Tasha, and just one date, please. I will make it worth your while.” She bats her eyes at him.

He glares at her hand, which is still wrapped around his arm. She lets go and takes a step back. “Look, I already gave you my answer, and I don’t give a fuck what your name is. Also, Nuri isn’t a fucking messenger bird, so don’t send her any shit to give to me.” He turns and heads back to class. Tasha is standing by the door, glaring at me. What did I do? I warned her.

I open my mouth to say something but the professor comes in and class starts. He goes over the history of demons. I open my notebook, tear a piece of paper, and start writing.

Me: If I wrote you a letter, would you read it?

I hand the paper to Dimitri, who takes it skeptically. After reading it, he responds and hands it back over.

D: Yes.

Me: Really?

D: Someone said I should read it, so I will. And then I will reject it.

Me: :( How mean, what if I poured my heart into it.

D: Please don’t. Women don’t write love letters. Girls do. I have no interest in little girls.

Me: what about me? Do you have an interest in me?

D: Absolutely not.

Just as I am jotting down my response, the bell rings, and Dimitri is no longer in sight. “One day, Nuri, you will gain his attention.” I am forced to skip the next class because it is a magic one. Due to extenuating circumstances, I will not use much of my power. So I head to the roof and lay in the shade.

“Nuri! Are you up here? I know this is where your spot is!” Tasha comes up seething, her little gang behind her. “What did you tell him? How dare he embarrass me like that?” I sit up, yawning. “I told you it wasn’t a good idea….” Smack! Her hands fly across my face. This bitch. “You think if you keep feeding him lies, he will fall for you? Who do you think you are?”

“Everyone at the school already knows about your one-sided crush. You should stop clinging to him and let someone else have a chance. Dimitri is only being nice to you because of his parents. Otherwise, he wouldn’t think twice to look your way, filthy lizard.” I gasp, stand up, ball my fingers into a fist, and just when I was about to punch her, lights out.

“Nuri!” I pause at the sound of Dimitri’s voice. “This is why I will never see you as a woman; you always resort to violence.” Heh? She started it. He comes up beside me. “So you see her as a woman and not me?” I turn to face him he looks over at me. “Nuri, what exactly are you asking?” He folds his arms. “I think she means if you had to choose between her, who would you pick, and me?” Tasha asks.

Dimitri gives me a look, and I nod, confirming that’s what I meant. “That’s easy. I would choose anyone other than Nuri.” Tasha laughs, “Well, that’s a win in my book. See ya, come on, girls.” Tasha walks away, leaving me alone with Dimitri. “Well, that was….” Bam! I pulled my arm back and punched him as hard as I could. “Fucking asshole, I will find my own ride back.” I shove my hands in my pockets and leave the roof.
