Chapter 1 '' The Song Of Snow''

As they walk along the rim of the river, Ever lightly hums, The song of snow. just like the snow white hair and pale white skin she and her brother, Caspian, shared.

they had gotten it from their mother.

" Is that a swan?" Caspian whispered. his voice was deep and calming .

Not always though.

"wheeerree?" Ever said in a sing- song-voice.

'Playfull... she deeply reminds me of mum...' Caspian thought.

" In the far end of the river. See it? it's riiigght-" He pointed his index finger at the swan . "-there." He finished his sentence.

"Ooh-! I see it! theres another one!"

They kept walking. Talking as they went. Where they were going, They had not a single idea.

The sun sprayed an orange flutter across the pathway and river. It was setting.

Caspian liked to imagine , when the sun spills it's orange ray down to the ground or water of the earth, it gestures 'see you soon!' Because, well, it comes back the next day.

An hour passed like a minute.

"it's getting late. . . we should head back." Caspian whispered in his usual calming voice.

"Awww! ALREADY? My feet say otherwise! And so does my heart!" Ever said stamping her feet on the ground, crushing the roses beneath.

They were at some kind of flower field. They were gonna walk across it but the sun decided to set early that evening.

"No. We're gonna be late. Mum's probably-"

Ever snapped. She hated her 'mother' more than anything. She wasn't their real mum though. We've got time. I 'll explain s

"She's not my mother and never will be!" Ever shouted. Tears were streaming down her cheeks . One even trickled down her neck.

"I hate her! Fuck her! I wanna go ... back home...i wanna .. don't you..?" Ever hugged him. Still crying.

Caspian hugged her back.

He wanted to do more than that. But , unfortunately, they were siblings. Stepsiblings.

"hey... don't cry....let's sing mother's song... i'll sing it for you ... anytime... please?"

Ever looked up. She was still crying, she managed to voice her thoughts," o-oka-...okay- ..."

They walked back. Caspian gave Ever a piggy-back-ride. He sung their mother's song .

She used to play the piano while singing as her husband fed Caspian and Ever.

Such precious memories... all...gone.

"Wanna sing with me?" Caspian stopped singing and said this.

Ever, her head buried on his shoulder, managed to shake her head.

Caspian debated whether she was crying or not . He hoped she wasn't.

Seeing her in pain made him feel double the pain.

They went home. Slowly.

The Next Day... (6:30 am)

'A year ago we were fine...' Caspian wrote . He loved journaling . That was how he used up his spare time...

Caspian rested his back on a tree trunk while Ever rested her head on his lap. She was asleep.

'Ever... she's sleeping on my lap. I used to sleep like this on mum's lap when i was her age.

"She's your identicle twin Esther!" Dad used to tell mum....i..miss ..-' A tear trickled down his cheek and fell on the 'miss' he wrote. He flicked it away with the index finger of pen-free-hand, (In other words, his left hand.)

'-them.' He finished writing.

'I should rest ...' Caspian thought half-heartedly to himself.

He put the journal down and tilted his head.

He couldn't do much other than that , as , Ever had been occupying his lap for the past 2 hours.

He fell asleep. A deep, deep sleep. One you'd be able to dream in.

"The song of ...snow." Ever muttered in her sleep.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
