Prologue
Ocean Shores, Washington – December 10,1928
The moon was high and full, when Abigail and Deandra walked out onto the beach. “Come on, Abigail. The guys are waiting for us.” Deandra’s word slurred from a distance.
“Well, they will just have to wait!” Abigail’s words slurred as well. “I’m so happy you gave me that ‘special’ drink for my seventeenth birthday, Deandra. You are an amazing friend.” Abigail laughed.
Deandra’s voice caught the attention of a couple men that were sitting around the campfire. A boy with blackish brown hair turned to look at the girls. His face lite up when he saw Deandra, the other boy turned around as well. His amazingly good looks made Abigail’s heart skip a beat, the boy had short brown hair and dimples in the middle of his cheeks when he smiled. But Deandra’s thoughts of him made her rethink her drunken thoughts of dating him.
The dark headed guy stood up to greet us. “Well, hello miss Deandra.”
She frowned, “I’ve told you before, Ethan. Don’t call me that.” She turned to the other boy, “Hello, Nathaniel.” She said with a flirty tone.
“Hello, Deandra.” He replied with a deep voice. As they got closer, Abigail could see his emerald green eyes.
Her drunken mind obviously took control when she blurted out, “Whoa, you look sexy.” She covered her mouth with the hand that wasn’t holding on to a bottle of Budweiser beer.
Nathaniel smiled and reached for the bottle, “You have had too many drinks, my dear.”
Abigail moved it away while taking a swig of the drink again, she leaned against him, “Do you know what?”
“Your breath wreaks?” Nathaniel inquired.
Abigail laughed, “No, you look so familiar. It’s like I knew you but you had a different name, you know?”
Nathaniel looked a little uneasy, “Um, no, I don’t. But I do know that you need to calm down, before someone gets hurt.” He looked at Deandra and Ethan while he was talking as if he was trying to make a point to them instead of Abigail. He turned back to where Abigail was standing, she was gone, “Where’d she go?”
“Hey, guys!” Abigail yelled from around the water.
They all turned to face her as she spun her hand around and around as the sand in front of her formed a tornado half the size of her. “Whoa,” they whispered.
Abigail laughed, “I must be super drunk.”
The night went along as well as a night with one drunk-off-her-ass girl, one buzzed girl, and two sober guys could be. They laughed, sang, told jokes, stories, and scary stories. While Ethan told a scary story, Abigail kept scooting closer to Nathaniel. Eventually, she fell asleep on his shoulder. Nathaniel made sure she was good and asleep before he moved her. He put the arm she was leaning against on her shoulders and his other under her knees and picked her up without waking her. Abigail’s skirt blew in the sea breeze with the breeze she cuddled closer to him. She also started to whine a little, it took Nathaniel by surprise when she started to whine, “Andrew.” Over and over again.
In the morning, Abigail woke up to Deandra looking at her. Abigail jumped,
Magnificent midnight blue demon wings escaped their hiding place. “I have known you for many, many, many years because of the life I chose with Lucifer.”
“Lucifer?” Abigail turned around as the man pulled down the hood, a man with short sandy blonde hair and fiery red eyes with a sapphire blue ring around them, stood in front of her.
“Yes, I’m him. I’m the one that fell with one-third of the angelic population in heaven.
