The television screen cast a dim blue glow in the dark living room, reflecting listlessly on the face of a middle-aged man slumped on a worn sofa. His face, etched with weary lines, was adorned by the mechanical movement of his fingers massaging his temples. The monotonous voice of the news anchor, like the irritating buzz of a fly, continued to stream from the speakers, reporting again and again about the damnation that had become a daily staple. Fantastic figures floated in the air—the stolen public money, the tales of impunity that seemed to be the privilege of those in power. His gaze was empty, fixed on the images on the screen, yet his soul seemed distant, already numb to the rot being presented. With an unenthusiastic movement, his hand reached for the remote on the shabby table, silencing the suffocating sound. The sudden silence felt heavier, more oppressive than the clamor of the crimes just reported. His eyelids closed slowly, seeking a momentary escape in the darkness of sleep.

"We have just received the latest news, that some public officials have..." The TV news anchor's voice was cut off.

The blue light on the screen suddenly flickered wildly before the boring news footage vanished, replaced by a strange and disturbing sight. A figure wearing a smiling mask, sitting upright on a seemingly fragile and dilapidated wooden bench, dominated the screen. A striking contrast was visible between the cheerful mask and the formal suit typical of officials he wore. There was something threatening, something discordant, in that combination.

A cold, piercing voice broke the silence of the room.

"Today I broadcast something different for all of you," the masked figure said, his tone serious and emphatic. "Something that will be justice for all of us, something that will make us all feel satisfied, something that will make those corruptors pay for everything they have done to us."

The tension in the living room seemed to escalate. The man on the sofa slowly opened his eyes, a faint surprise beginning to replace the weariness on his face.

"We have caught a hundred corruptors who easily escaped their punishment," the voice continued, a cold conviction creeping into every word.

A brief pause hung in the air before the masked figure raised his hands, intertwining his fingers. "Don't worry, we won't kill them."

The smile behind the mask felt mocking, cold. "We are not murderers, because the law also prohibits the death penalty for corruptors, right?" he asked, his tone containing sharp ridicule.

Then, his voice changed, rising an octave, filled with horrifying glee. "But we will only give them a chance at life in a survival game that we will hold seven days from now!"

On the screen, the mask's smile seemed to widen, terrifying in its forced cheerfulness.

"So witness it!!!" he exclaimed, his voice burning with a strange fanaticism. An IP address suddenly appeared on the screen, blinking like a promise of a gruesome spectacle.

The masked figure leaned forward, his eyes hidden behind the mask seeming to stare directly at every viewer. "Of the people, by the people, and for the people," he said in closing, before the screen became static again. The silence in the living room felt more chilling than before, filled with the confusion and horror newly instilled by the strange broadcast. The man on the sofa lay frozen, his eyes wide in disbelief. The world that had seemed so bleak and monotonous was suddenly colored by a terrifying threat and an equally terrifying promise of justice.
