Chapter 1: “The Mirror in the Attic”
Told by: Anu
Setting: A stormy night inside the cabin. Flashlights flicker. The group passes a bottle around as Anu leans forward, eyes a little glassy from the drink.
---
🌩️ SCENE: Cabin, Living Room – Night
Anu (grinning):
“Alright, my turn. This actually happened to my cousin Shraya last year. At least… that’s what she said. You decide if it’s real.”
Everyone: (listening in eerie silence)
---
🎬 Scene Shift: Flashback to Shraya’s Ancestral Home
Location: Old Bengali villa, outskirts of Cuttack. Faded walls. Creeping vines. It’s dusk.
Narration (Anu voiceover):
“Shraya moved into her grandfather’s abandoned home after his passing. Big mistake. The locals called it ‘Andhar Mahal’ — the Dark Mansion. She laughed it off... until she found the attic.”
---
Scene: Attic – Dusk
Shraya (whispering):
“What the hell is that?”
In a dusty attic, under a torn white sheet, is a massive mirror — antique, with golden dragon carvings on the frame. Shraya reaches out, lifts the cover.
The glass is clean. Too clean.
She sees herself…
But her reflection blinks slightly later than her.
---
🪞 Scene: Bedroom – Night
Shraya sits on the bed. The mirror now stands in the corner.
She brushes her hair.
In the mirror — the reflection doesn’t move. It keeps brushing… even after she stops.
Shraya:
“…Hello?”
She walks to the mirror, touches it. Cold. Her reflection smiles…
She doesn’t.
Shraya screams. Runs out.
---
Scene: Kitchen – Next Day
Shraya tries to ignore it. She covers the mirror again.
Her friend, Mili, visits.
Mili:
“Girl, you okay? You look like you haven’t slept.”
Shraya (tired):
“The mirror. It’s not… right.”
Mili (laughing):
“What, you afraid of your own face?”
They laugh — until a crash upstairs.
They run up — the cloth is off again. The mirror is uncovered.
And both of their reflections are just… staring, not moving.
---
🕯️ Scene: Night – Power Cut
Shraya lights a candle. Outside, thunder booms.
She dares to approach the mirror once more.
Shraya:
“If you’re real… do something.”
The candle flickers… then goes out.
In the mirror — her reflection smiles and raises its hand. But she’s frozen still.
It touches the inside of the glass. A crack forms.
Shraya gasps. She tries to run—
But suddenly, everything goes dark.
---
Scene: Next Morning – Police Report
Neighbors say they heard screaming. The mirror was found cracked, but no one was inside the house.
Only thing left behind?
A dusty mirror… with a smiling face still visible in the glass.
---
Back to Present – Cabin
Anu (with a nervous laugh):
“Creepy, huh? She never showed up again. I don’t even know if it was a prank or…”
Diya:
“What happened to the mirror?”
Anu:
“Burned the house. But sometimes I dream about it.”
Lightning flashes outside. A loud THUMP is heard from upstairs in the cabin attic.
The group freezes.
Ronit (half-laughing):
“Guys… is there an attic here?”
Kabir (whispering):
“…And didn’t the owner say to never go up there?”
They all turn to look at the ceiling.
