Chapter 1
Opening your eyes and blinking a few times, you felt surprisingly refreshed. You glanced back at the wooden clock hanging on the wall—whoa, I’d been asleep for four hours already? You leaped off the chair and shot like a rocket toward the weird little cubicle right across from the head of the bed. Turns out, it was time for a wardrobe change! A stylish light blue t-shirt paired with hilarious floral shorts—what a combination. You dashed out the opposite door in a flash. Ah, crap, forgot to make the bed again.
“Just woke up?”
“Just woke up?”
“Hey, are you even listening to me?”
"Yawn...Why are you yelling so much? Can’t you see my hair is a total mess? Anyway, what’s the status of the exported file?”
“Keep dreaming! The exported file was finished yesterday. Now you need to cross-check the device info for those multiple calls coming from all sorts of locations, compile it all, and report back to me. Don’t blow this!”
“Got it.”
“You better!”
Click! Yawn...Man, just woke up and already getting screamed at. I wish I was still buried under the warm blankets on my bed right now. I’d sleep like a log, no way in hell I’d be up at this hour.
(On the other end of the line)
“Grr, that bastard actually hung up on me. Let’s see how he handles the work. Lately he’s just been daydreaming, probably obsessing over some girl.”
*Opening his eyes, blinking a few times, he looked up at the clock. What the hell! Four hours of sleep already?!AAAAAH, gotta get straight to work! AAAAAH! Once again, the guy got up without making his bed. He slapped on some clothes and walked out looking like a mess—heavy, stiff, and suffocating just to look at. He zoomed out the door on the opposite side.
“You just woke up now?”
“Then why the fuck didn’t you wake me up?!”
“I saw you’ve been working like crazy lately and looking pretty burnt out. Figure you needed a day to give yourself a break.”
“Fuck no!”
“Fine. When you go out later, toss me the tracking phone. It’s right there in your office.”
“Fuck no!”
“Ah, by the way, did you compile the call log info yet?”
“Yep. I even had time to watch a movie and listen to some music, hehe. Just kidding—I wrapped it up and even logged the locations where the calls were routed, plus the suspicious audio interference in every voice wave. Get this: earlier I caught some guy using a voice changer to talk to a person standing literally ten steps away from him.”
“Weird. Who the hell does that?”
He strolled out of the room, which was drenched in glowing blue and red LED lights. His steps were slow and lazy, but he looked pretty cheerful. That was just the way he talked — fisty, brazen, acting like he wasn’t afraid of a single soul. Except for the female manager. Well, to be fair, You’re pretty terrified of her too.
