An Interesting Idea

I think the premise of this book is interesting and shows some promise. The idea of a master sorcerer of sorts rescuing a slave girl and making her an apprentice is endearing. The MC, however, comes off a bit robotic. While he saves her, we see very little empathy for her situation and pain. The girl, on the other hand, is a very innocent and lovable character.

There’s a few opportunities I see so far. The simplest is some grammatical and typo errors throughout. Those are easy to fix. Secondly, some of the paragraphs are very long and could stand to be broken up. During the 3rd and 4th chapters the prose drug a bit. Maybe some cutting and refinement would help. The last thing I will mention is the witch that was added suddenly into the narrative to take care of the girl. She came into the picture out of the blue. Even when the MC would think through his plan along the way she wasn’t mentioned, at least that I can remember. There just wasn’t enough natural progression to her introduction, and it came off as a last minute add.

Overall this is probably a good story that just needs further refinement.

A Masterfully Woven Tale

Not only is A Silent Game of Spies highly entertaining, but it is also brilliantly constructed. This medieval tale is chalked full of the most colorful characters who all have a distinct role to play in the imminent war that is on the horizon. While there are a lot of moving parts to this story, I never felt overwhelmed with information, on the contrary, each chapter adds to the overarching story being told. The chapters are short and concise (after the first which introduces the story), while the characters in each are so unique the reader has no problem picking up on whose tale is being told. There is such a nice cadence throughout the book, as the stories of each character begin to collide with each other. The writer creates such intrigue with each subplot that a reader just has to know what happens next. There are several heroes in this book you can't help but cheer for, while there are plenty of villains that will make your skin crawl. Davis has mastered the art of character development and that's what makes this story one you don't want to miss. My favorite character is Selby, a young and inexperienced queen who soon proves herself to be worthy of the crown she inherited. With her character and many others, there is a realness that is tangible. The reader is shown both their strengths and their weaknesses, and this intimate look at their lives not only allows the reader to really get to know each one, but it also prompts them to empathize with them. This is a masterful tale that is well worth anyone's time.

A Unique Experience

Family Honor stands in a category all its own. Within this short tale the reader finds gut wrenching pain coupled with overflowing love and grace. Graham has woven together what seems like true stories of individuals affected by drug use/addiction in one way or another. He does a fabulous job of painting his characters in a way that makes them genuine. With his sharp and authentic dialogue, he really captures the moments he is depicting. Though this can be harsh at times, it is true to the story, and true to the message of his work. As I read, I couldn't help but imagine this idea being transformed into a playwright, where a capable cast could really bring the tale Graham has masterfully crafted to life. Great work! Keep writing...

Such A Creative Concept

Pharaoh's Soul, like its main character, is one of a kind. This is a true adventure for the reader's imagination, as we witness the herione discover her true self amid some very crazy things happening around her. There is a lighthearted vibe throughout this story that fits well with the sometimes humorous and genuine main character. The plot itself is well designed with new twists and turns happening at just the right time. It almost has an Indiana Jones feel, possibly mixed with Percy Jackson. Overall I think this is a great start to something amazing. There are some grammatical issues to clean up, but this isn't anything a good read through or editor couldn't fix. Overall, great work!

Life

This very gripping short story is well worth your time. Cooper has a genuine talent that oozes off of every page. He captures human nature beautifully, and has created a one character masterpiece. Every sentence paints a vibrant picture you can see in your mind's eye, and some of those pictures are so creepy you almost wish you were blind to them. A most excellent work!

Dark Deeds

This is a great foundation for what a young adult thriller should be. Greene has set up a suspenseful scene with great conflict and plenty of twists and turns. Her writing style brings her characters to life, and they are all quirky and fun. That doesn't stop her from sending a chill or two up your spine.

A Perfect Read for a Young Audience

Hildegarde of The Bees is a coming of age story about a young lady discovering herself. Along the way she meets two very genuine friends who help her at every turn. While spending a year with a distant but loving relative, the MC Hildy discovers she has special gifts. These gifts have ties to her diseased mother, and as the story progresses we find out more and more of what Hildy can do.

One of my favorite aspects of this story is the relationships Hildy builds along the way. The author does a great job of making her audience feel the love between them, and it is endearing.

The character development is strong, especially for the targeted age group, and the drama and excitement ebb and flow throughout. It seems the author has set herself up for a sequel as readers will want to know what adventures Hildy will be off to next. Great work!

Refreshing and Original

Greenwater has created a unique thriller that is so realistic it could be about your next door neighbors, or even yourself. Her main characters are so raw and real that you will feel like you know them.

The original plot is presented in such a mysterious way that the reader can’t help but want to know more. The entire premise is intriguing and not one you’ve ever seen before.

The prose and descriptions throughout are succinct and powerful. They set the mood for the story perfectly.

Perhaps my favorite element thus far is the character, Simon. He is very endearing with his quirks and his genius.

All in all, this is one I’d definitely pay for to see how it ends. Great work!

A Wild Ride Worth Taking

In his novel, And The Frog, Andrew takes his readers on a colorful adventure full of dry humor and brow raising surprises. There is a brilliance in the author’s style of writing, with a cadence and tone that bode well for such a tale. One of my most favorite elements are his characters. They are as colorful as the story itself, and no matter the odd circumstances they face, they always remain constant and true to who they are. Their interactions are genuine and true to life, even in the most fantastic plot twists. This story flows very well and it’s hard to put down once you start. I highly recommend the adventure. It’s one you won’t be able to help but ponder on long after the last page is turned.

Something For Everyone

Something Lost is the type of book that can tailor to many audiences. Brimming with adventure, this tale follows the heroine, Alanis, as the finds herself on an accidental quest containing magic, mystical creatures, and even a knight in shining armor. When we meet her, Alanis seems like a typical young lady, but as time goes on, we find there is so much more to her. Chapter by chapter, the mysteries of her abilities unfold, as does this beautifully creative story. Overall, this is a well written, attention grabbing tale that will have any reader cheering on the MC. The characters are honest and lovable, and their bravery, though sometimes riddled with folly, makes them very easy to love. This is one I would definitely recommend.

Truly A Great Find

In his novel, Fragment of Destiny, Gesek has created a spectacular world full of mystery and intrigue. His descriptions bring this new world to life, but in no way bog down the narrative. In fact, this novel has the perfect combination of both heart racing action and heart felt moments. Though their world is different physically, the characters in this story deal with the same troubling issues that plague us today. This really helps the reader relate to and empathize with them. The story follows three young people as they grow into adulthood. In their world this means attending Academy, and ultimately finding their destiny, which, in most cases, is predetermined. Tess, the main character, is an independent, pistol of a girl. Though flawed, she has this innate drive to fearlessly stand up for and protect those she loves, and this makes her a very endearing heroine. All in all, this is a smartly done science-fiction work, brimming with enough action and suspense to keep the reader constantly guessing what's next. This is one you need to check out.

One Of A Kind

Taylor has absolutely created a masterpiece! In her novel, The Descendants, she includes vampires, but this should no way limit the span of her work. This novel is completely original, with a truly inspiring plot, and characters so real you will feel like you've known them forever. This is an action-packed adventure, so well written and flawless, that it will be hard for anyone to put it down until the heart-stopping end. Taylor has beautifully crafted a story laced with a higher purpose. Throughout, there are overarching themes of unconditional love, forgiveness, and redemption that will speak to the heart of even the most cynical critics. The main characters, Aurora and Gabriel, are flawed heroes, desperately trying to live out their full potential and purpose. As you travel though peaks and valleys with them, you will find yourself cheering them on as they take on a foe that would make the strongest among us quake. Stephanie Meyers may have started the vampire genre, but Taylor if forging her own path, and I for one hope she keeps going.

Such A Powerful Story

Shattered Moon is a harrowing yet beautiful tale about a woman who experiences, and escapes domestic abuse. The story's first person POV allows for the reader to really get to know, and to fall in love with the MC. As her life ebbs and flows between exhilaration and terror, and finally triumph, the reader feels every emotion right along with her. The smooth and easy to read writing style made me feel like I was reading a true story, told by the MC herself. Actually, everything about this story feels like it could have really happened, and that will send a shiver down anyone's spine. Kudos to the author for shining a light on this subject. Excellent work!

Tremendous Potential

One thing is for sure...this is one to read now before you have to pay for it! Though only three chapters are published, Fallen is shaping up to be a finely polished work, full of well defined characters, and descriptions that awaken all five of the senses. DoubleA18 does a fantastic job of subtly introducing the readers to the main character, with her struggles, fears, and a painful past. The tempo of the story is just right, as the action woven into all of this great writing keeps the pages turning. I am submitting the review now, but this is one I will definitely keep my eyes on.
