This story was fantastic, I could not stop reading it. It was amazing how attached you can get to a cast of truly ugly characters, woven through the terrible faeries of the Seelie and Unseelie courts. Usually, I dislike stories where the fae are bad, but this story was amazing. It was a new fresh set of themes, about ugliness and greed and selfishness, but they were not painted as bad traits in this story. In fact, the protagonist was all that and more, but I found myself loving her. One of the best parts of this story for me, (even though it took me about 3/4 of the book to accept) was that the Prince was ugly. Truly ugly, not under a curse or secretly handsome, he was terrible looking. It was amazing, and to me, challenged all of the norms of faery tales and fantasy that I have come to know. This is the first time that I have read a story as grotesque and amazing as this, and I loved it.
