First Four Chapters

I truly enjoyed this read! I feel so bad for Summer and find myself wondering if she’s really as “ugly and fat” as she thinks she is, or if she has some type of body dysmorphia. She’s totally adorable and quirky though. I’m very curious to learn more about her, why she has no phone, and why she seems to have given up on life. I thought the believability was somewhat off during the school scene, as the teacher does not acknowledge the welt on her face, nor does anyone punish the kids who beat her up. Since he interacted with her, he would definitely notice something was up with Summer’s face and ask her what happened. Also, do high school boys physically bully girls these days? I understand girls hitting girls, but a boy tossing her around feels a bit unrealistic, especially in an school environment. That being said, I’m totally hooked on this story and I can’t wait to see things get better for Summer! At least, I hope they do. I encourage the author to keep writing and building the craft, as practice is the best way for a writer to grow. :)

First Three Chapters

The plot is modern, compelling, and fast-paced, and you feel horrible for the story's heroine (Annie) when you get a taste of the abuse she suffered in a Chapter 2 flashback. This story is written in 1st person POV which I really like, as I don't read many stories like this. You really do find yourself rooting for Annie's happiness while wanting to learn more about her troubled past. I don't have too much to go by yet regarding the plot, as there are only three posted chapters thus far. But I do want to keep reading! (The grammar and punctuation need a heavy dose of editing, but the author has stated this particular work is currently raw and un-edited -- so there are no surprises.)
