This is not a Mouse Tv Story!

TAGS: Review Swap, Read to Chapter 14 (at the time of Review)

DESCRIPTION: We follow our Heroine, Monica as the rebel Union’s weapon, the Ice Queen. In this world, people have special abilities and the ones who have power tend to fault it. Monica is captured and continues to work with some of the like-minded nobles of this fantasy world to free the oppressed.

PROS: Well-written, likable characters, once I had some time to read I kept page flipping.

CONS: Not anything I could detect.

OVERALL: Decent Story! Good Descriptions of locations and actions. I could find myself in the shoes of our heroine. This is no Mouse TV story, got’s some violence off the bat.

What if Persia had Sons?

Tags: Full Review, No Review Swap

Overall: Well, first off the well-written, classic story of two people dragged down and raised back up with set in an alternate world timeline (this allows the author to reshape events to bring about an interesting new tale! I have always liked stories like Benher, Gladiator, and The Last Eagle. This has a bit of all of those in here, as well as a bit of a fantasy element. We have an overall bad guy for the story, other obstacles to overcome. Well written.

Pros: Well-written, likable characters Amytas and Artaxerxes (his names a mouthful), (something I still struggle with in my own writing). They go through a hero’s journey together and in the process form a brotherly friendship. There are those moments when old friends come back together, the emotion comes across.

Cons: Not many, new readers may wish to start with The Gathering as events that create the new Timelines are found there.

End Notes: MORE! Looking forward to the next one in the series “Decimus: The Wolf of Rome”

Tags: Review Swap, WIP - Read to Chapter 13 (That’s all to this point)

Overall: There is a story built up under the hood, a mysterious teenager comes to town who has a bit of a checkered past. She’s a bit of a tough gal who has a secret. Looking for some monsters, they are here in some numbers as well.

Pro: The author allows us to meet a few interesting characters before revealing what’s behind the closed door. Characters are fun and exciting. The author takes you through several different scenes, and you do get a sense of progress from one location to another.

Cons: Grammar, the author does state that English is not the first language. These issues do show throughout the story. Some places have been corrected, where others not. Words are spelled correctly, but sometimes the usage and placing are a bit off. Some minor punctuation errors as well. This distraction slowed my reading through the chapters at times.

Keep writing and practicing; Practice makes Proficiency. - Timidon Nodimit (R2021-0502)

A Canvas of Sorrows

Tags: Review Swap, 1 Chapter about 40 pages.
^^Pros^^
A nice story with a bit of dark twist, well worded, the author paints an interesting narrative.
^^Cons^^
Sometimes a bit hard to follow. It could be broken into a few additional chapters at scene changes.
^^Best Line^^
"I known authors who do not simply plot their manuscripts."

What starts in Vegas. . .

Tags: WIP, Review Swap, Read to Chapter 5 (That's all at the review)
^^Pros^^
I enjoyed the story so far, classic friends heading to Vegas to have a good time. Dragging the responsible one back to blow off some stress and get out of the winter wonderland they were living all in. Characters are well written, and the setting is sound enough to follow where the author leads. Once I got started, I found I wanted to keep turning the pages.
^^Cons^^
At this point is that there are only 5 chapters. This will change as the author adds more to work.
^^Best Line^^
"Oh, Beckett, what did you do last night. . . " - Beckett.
^^Overall^^
A good piece of work. I hope the author keeps working on this piece.

A Spartan, a Roman and a Viking enter a bar!

^^Tags^^ (Review to Chapter 13, Review Swap)
^^Pros^^
I love crossword fantasy, bringing different elements together from different time periods. This story does just that, you get classics like the Spartans, Romans, Vikings, and a host of other warriors. All being summoned from a near-death experience to aid in the quest. The battle scenes are nicely put together, and clearly understandable.
^^Cons^^
Not many, to think of offhand, I can follow the story just fine. Characters are unique, to say the least.
Favorite Character: Tyra Dragon Eyes, a Viking gal with a dangerous set of clubs.
^^Overall^^
A mix of fantasy and reality, one of my favorite cups of tea! Will add a list of continue reading. Cheers to the Author.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste

Pros: Wow, good book and story. Characters are believable, not perfect or overpowered, and that is coming from somebody who enjoys writing overpowered characters. It has a diverse cast of characters. The story is memorable, has a bit of horror, mystery, and considering you have a group of psychics' probing minds, should make a who done it a snap. The writing is descriptive enough without being repetitive (something I struggle with). I Will have to wait for the next novel to see who else the group struggles against next.

Cons: Not too many to think of. It does have a bit of political and racial bits that might raise an eyebrow for some readers. The story is set in modern times and the current disruption of political groups and factions.

Last Thoughts: Good read, kept me turning pages, especially when building to the climax. It could make a good Netflix movie, though the only real expensive parts to produce would be the mental trips through people's heads.

I am not Tim. I am just Joe.

Pros: Well, just to start with, this story has all the classic RPG elements in place. If you have been gaming for years, you will be right at home with the story. I usually have a hard time remembering characters and their names, who they are, and why they are even here. Not with this story, The characters are lively, to say the least, each memorable in its own right. The set pieces are great; the shifting house is great!

Cons: Lengthy and wordy. The descriptions are great (and mostly why I can remember them). The chapters are long. This is about the only bump I can see in the writing style.

Overall: Has a good start to the series. You can find comedy, love, and villains getting a bit of Karama rewards. I will be reading the next as well.

Captain Caveman

Tags: Full Review, No Review Swap

Overview: Time is twisted and broken, two people displaced in time.

Pros: Writing is good, not many places I could see for improvement. The story is Romance/fantasy/sci-fi. I am more into action, villains and heroes. In this story, the villain is the environment. The author does an excellent job of invoking a few emotional responses, makes you feel for the characters. The fantasy is well done. James is a great character, a true gentleman, and a bit wishy-washy. Although Samatha has her ups and downs and her insecurities, they make a good couple. It has some “spicy” scenes for those who like a bit of hot romance. Scifi - TIME TRAVEL, I am a sucker for time travel stories.

Cons: The only point I can comment on for improvement is in some structure with early conversations. The Ending, I will let you read it for yourself - no spoilers. There is more, but you will have to read the other books to get the big finish.

Overall: I enjoyed the story. Keep me page-turning - that’s a good thing.

Deviantly Crafted Word Salad

Tags: Review Swap, Read to Chapter 13, WIP

Overall - I liked the story very descriptive and word choice. I, unfortunately, kept getting lost, sometimes where I got lost was the location in the story, other times with the choice of words. The story is very descriptive, dark, and sometimes depressing. I get a creepy vibe when I read the chapters (something good, the author instills feeling throughout the text with the colorful wording). The story is about the lifestyles of the rich and twisted with a strong supernatural touch.

Pros - Word Salad, rich details on characters. The author added some new fonts to the web version, enhances the experience.

Cons - Word Salad, sometimes I got lost in the description. Unfortunately, the Inkitt app did not display all the text, the author figured out how to add some new fonts to the web version,

Rejected by "Big" Dean Anderson

I am sorry to say that in no way will this review mean anything to Big Publishers such as ourselves. - Shattered Dreams Publications Your attempt at Roasting and drawing attention to your book, and OTHERS by the way, which put together by MULTIPLE authors (How are we supposed to take the profits from that?) See the 2K page document in 6-pixel font size for details on your manuscript rejection details. My wife scolded me when I tried to give a single star review, so Mrs. Anderson, who I have to spend LOTS of money on to keep happy, told me I HAD TO. and that Torac is her favorite character. This is a collection of rejection letters put out by our greater publishing house - WE ALL HAD A LAUGH, I hope you will too. = "Big" Dean Anderson - Shattered Dreams Publications.

Overall this a fun idea and a great way to generate content. I hope everyone who reads this get's a laugh and brightness their day. I recently read a comment that "We are all in the same boat." - This is too true, "We are all in the same storm.", some have yachts others have dingies, and while even more are drowning. (^) Overall:
Teen Drama! The story is set in high school, with all of the youthful characters well presented. The story is still in development, so still looking to see where the tale sends the reader. I will continue to follow this story and check back once in a while for developments.

(^) Pros:
Character development is outstanding. I enjoyed the little nuances of school life. The descriptions place you right into the location providing good visuals.

Broken Wings

Tags: Review Swap, Read to Chapter 4 (WIP)

^^Overall^^
I will take another look after a while, not much to work with for a review at this time. So this will be a "First Impression" type Review. Has a bit of mystery going on with some prophetic dark dreams our MC Miss Smith has been having. As of Chapter 4, the dream becomes a reality.

^^Pros^^
You could be going for Sci-Fi or Fantasy at this point in the story, as one hero enters into a house way ahead of the current tech curb for the area. The writing is fluid, and characters are easily discernable. A minor villain is introduced in Chapter 2, and he is somebody you can absolutely hate.

^^Cons^^
Still in the early stages being written, as the author stated so reformatting and corrections will happen to make the reading a bit easier.

^^Best Line^^
"Obviously, this was a mistake, I have to be going if you will please excuse me." - Miss Smith.

Mars Needs Mari

Inkitt Title: Mars Needs Mari

^^Tags^^
Review Swap, Read to Chapter 18 (WIP)

^^Overall^^
I did enjoy the story. I can see the difference between the characters. We follow our heroine Mari as she is forced to leave her home. Being abducted by Ka'ine, he's not entirely human but by a race of older aliens. Mari tries to make the best of a bad situation.

^^Pros^^
In true sci-fi fashion, some nice world-building using different aliens and a new culture to explore similar themes of good old Earth. No hard grammar issues, easy to read and follow the story and plot. I do like how the MC kinda knows what Ka'ine is trying to do and tries her best to survive a very bad ordeal.

^^Cons^^
Sometimes a little too political for my taste. Differently some dark aspects to the reasoning behind the abduction.

^^Best Line^^
"An alien over ten thousand years. Great. This makes things a lot easier for me." - Mari

Rock, Flower or Tree!

(Tags: WIP, Review Swap, reviewed to Chapter 13)
^Description^
Where to begin? I highly recommend getting ahold of the map provided by the author, the experience will be enhanced as you trace your own finger to the places mentioned in this new world. Worldbuilding. The author has built a new world, creating a stage for a big conflict. First, you are treated to small pieces of history with a little interaction between gods and mortals. The gods have their own personalities, then the mortals come into play.
^Pros^
A fun piece covers a large territory of building a conflict. Has moments of time passing, and an epic world being built. The description of the gods, their environment is absolutely amazing, like a rich set dressing on a movie.
^Cons^
Not many, sometimes I got myself lost on where I was at (recommended the map out when reading).
^Overall^
Great! I plan on going through the rest of this work. And am considering purchase myself.
^Favorite Character^
The Goddess Montina, bandits don't and gods just don't mix. By far this goddess has a twisted sense of humor!
^Favorite Villian^
Still Too soon to find my favorite villain, but the most despicable would be the god Veronto, the god of war.
^Favorite Quote^ "Right! Now! Who would like to be a rock or a flower?!" - Montina

Last Note:
This is now one of my new favorites!

Somebody Save Me! and me!

(Tags: WIP, reviewed to Chapter 11)
Description:
A pair of sisters are moving out into the world,. The family they have lived with has secrets they have kept hidden all their lives. When reaching out to a friend, they get jobs and move away to a big city, where Tiara's life is turned upside down, revealing that she has a choice to make about who she is and what she can do.

Pros:
World Building is there; I get an idea of what and where the author wants to take me. Characters have distinct personalities, always a plus. Divine beings always a plus. We got werewolves and an idea of their hierarchy.

Cons:
The author is still working on her English as the language is not her primary. Many mistakes in grammar and punctuation are spelled correctly but often used in the wrong way. That I can chop this up to learning the language; this makes the story a challenging read.

Overall:
The story has potential, will require heavy editing and reworking to make the story more palatable.

Favorite Character:
Tiara, the main protagonist, we are following her journey.
Favorite Villian: Sierra, sneaky rat. I was not expecting her to be someone who was going betray the sisters; I thought of her as a friend. I don't know exactly what they were planning, but it did not look good.

Last Note:
Keep writing and practicing, and I can see a difference between the first chapter and the last that I read., I will review the books a little later to see what new improvements you make. Good luck and keep writing; remember you only get better by practice.

Romance Booming in a Country far, far away

Pros:

A nice slice of life, nobody getting directly down and dirty. Most of the romances I read, allot of hooking up is already happening. The characters are well developed, The author builds the scenes I feel I can see the what is being described. Not disturbing actions on the parts of the characters, this is nice and refreshing. The conflicts not larger than life and are small and believable with the children.

Cons:

Not many, just a few missing words now and there, just more editing and relisting (over and over, I get this). Nothing that is a deal breaker though.

Overall:

Took me about two hours to listen/read through the material. I It's a nice read. Will take time and add the next book to the series, just to see how this all plays out.

Why I am not a Human

Tags : (Work in Progress)

Pros : This book in the series is part of the origin story of the Vampire Goddess. We have a number of well defined characters, a truly disciple and hated villain. I give the author props making somebody I truly despite. A number of side characters are fleshed out and provide good support for our heroines motivations.
Cons : The story is a bit dark.

Overall : The setting is nice, you can see and feel where the author takes you. The hate, the attraction and the vengeance. In the overall arc within the series provides a good foundation support.😎

Note: Oh I would not want to be a human in ANY vampire series, they have a tendency to get eaten.. :)

Why I am not in the Mafia

Tags : (Work in Progress) (Review Swap:2020-01-11)

Pros - Detailed Characters are a plus. Lively and Brutal as villains go, there is no shortage of supply, just pick the worst. The scenes are detailed, I can picture where the author has placed the reader. The story is constructed well enough.
Cons - Punctuation took a hit, only because I recognized some of the same flaws in my own work, not a deal breaker.

Overall - With only few chapters to work with, I don't know where the story is going yet. Much like nobles, arranged marriages and such, and a very unlucky gal who has to me married off to a crazy sob. This does leave me to want to punch Nario in the head. Happy Ending in a Mafia family? Only time will tell. More work is going to be needed, and this is a dark story to tread down. Violence can be found in a number of chapters, it's a tale of the criminals underworld, so be prepared.

The Chimera

Pros: Continuing on the story, Saraid is a very interesting Chimera, a creature with different abilities. The more she bonds with, the more powers she collects. More adult scenes, with some nice humor placed in as well. The writing is interesting enough to keep me turning chapters (coming from a horrible writer myself).

Cons: I read this out of sequence in the series, Did not see an indication on the title that this is Book 2. Also, Chapter 21 is missing (still).

Overall: Liked the story. Though the author is still working out the next book. Looking forward to the next installment.

Sexy little witch

Pros: A interesting story would make a fun movie as well (or mini-series). Characters are different and likable. It has just about the right amount of adult content to suit a few different tastes. The story could stand even without the extra edgy material. The story also reads well; I can easily follow the action and get into the character's heads.

Cons: Not many I can see, offhand. I felt there was some jumping around on time and locations that I felt I got lost on. Also, I read this out of sequence in the series, Did not see an indication on the title that this is Book 1.

Overall: Liked the story; I read the second in the series first. Will and already have read the second in the series.

Celestial Mechanics 101

I will start to say off I am a bit biased, for I have worked with the author before. I like her work.

Underworld! Yes, this is my cup of tea (or 6 pack of beer), The rules of the world have changed, . More characters to presented in an expanding universe. This story has multi points of view, a wonderful departure from the style previous two books in the series. I enjoyed the fatansy romp and world changing events. This book in the series dives into the gods of the world setting. More world building and expanding.

You finally get more Anibus time, you see more from his world and point of view.

The +18 rating is still in effect but has been greatly reduced as the story focus's more on the characters than the acts in bed.

How do I rate the plot of the story? Great, I had fun learning about the new world presented. The challenges and the magics used.
How do I rate the author;s writing style? This fit with me just fine. More feelings from the other characters was a improvement that I needed to enjoy the story.
How do I rate the author's technical writing skills? Better than mine so A+.

This review also shows more of reading the series as a whole. More books are coming, she has at least three more in the works in this series. Balance also provides a spring board for a new setting stories to take place in this universe.

"VV"

I will start to say off I am a bit biased, for I have worked with the author before. I like her work.

Onto the review!

This is the 2nd book in the Crixi's vampire series, A lot happens as the story progresses to the End of the Begining. The ending changes the rules for the books to come, Crixi's world evolves as time progress and so do the characters.

The adventure ramps up as with the threats presented, the scales are in constant swing Lara overcomes new and old threats. The world building is as good as ever, I did enjoy this aspect of the book.

The adult 18+ material is presented, but light in comparison to other novels.

How do I rate the plot? Well, a bit admistrational for the most part. I myself struggled through the first two thrids of the book. When the third act hit, I felt a breeze of fresh air as new territory was being explored. The ending sets up the series for what's yet to come and can be stand alone and complete if you decided to leave the world.
How do I rate the author's writing style? The story is readable. Just the same issue, for the most part, the story is told from the single person view. Not my cup of tea.
How do I rate the author's technical writing skills? Better than mine so It's a A+ in my book. I can read the work just fine.

Out of Crixi's work I have read, this is the weakest in the series. But as with every series, you have ups and downs. The ending is on par for the overall story.

The next chapter begins in Balance (book 3), the rules are completely turned upside down as our characters go into a new environment.

We Don't Glitter

I will start to say off I am a bit biased, for I have worked with the author before. I like her work. This book got me into trying to write stories myself.

Now onto the review! This is a different take on the vampire legends. The egyp[tion theme that runs through the series provides a good background and setting for the characters. The author created a unique approach to vampires powers, she moved away from the traditional troups, I was impressed. with the mental combat presented, I will say it is unique .The story moves quickly and in some places slows down. The overall pacing is good. I can follow the characters in their lives. The story is a good read and it's not a one-off, the author has more books in the works, This first book works well as an Anthology with Ascendance (Book 2). So if you want to get the complete picture I sudgest you read both.

The story does have some spicey scenes that are for the 18+, but still comparatively light.

How do I rate the plot: I liked it, I can follow it. I got the just of what I needed to enjoy the story.
How do I rate the author's writing style: I myself would have liked to see more of what the villains and the other characters were feeling and thinking, The story is told from the first-person perspective of Lara.
How do you rate the author's technical writing skills: Better than mine, so I give a A+.

WIP: Chapter 11

Intresting little world, this got to my 10 chapter review point, so this way I have enough to gather something about the kingdom.. Has a diverse cast of characters and I can see their personalities evolving as I read. Calypso is a rogue like character, sneaky and very stand alone. She has been recruited by being in the right place at the right time.

Overal All: Well it's story is still in the works, good sofar.
Plot: Looks like a internal struggle, works for me.
Writing Style: If I can follow and read it, good sofar.
Technical Writing Skills; Better than mine, so that is a + for me. I can read it without diffuclty.

Next review will be when the story is done, though you might look into the comments for any extra details. Adding this to my "Timidon's Ladder" list of Works in Progress to follow. I hope to add it to my completed book list when the time comes.

Loved the world idea, has a nice bit of world-building. The feeling of being overwhelmed and powerless by a superior force is well done. I like the characters and the setting. I could follow the story easily enough.
This is an excellent story to launch more from if the author wants to continue playing in this world. This story only requires 2 Beers (6 pack - Rating). Good fun.

Length: Overal I thought it was just right for the content created.
Characters: They had flaws and personal issues wich felt real enough for me.
