This was the first book advertised to me, so I started reading it first. I went in with an enormous amount of expectations due to the hundreds of good reviews, but the writer shows a disturbing view of people. She justifies rape in a way so as to be accepted by the readers. She’s quite a writer don’t get me wrong, that’s why your brain starts to accept Stoic’s actions has understandable and forgivable. But do not mistake it for it, because it’s all DISTURBING. Stoic's character had so much potential and power, but he has reduced to something small and naive, which doesn’t make sense. He was a war hero, he killed dozens and knock on Death's door... Almost got raped by a girl due to alcohol! And still, you want me to believe he doesn’t know how to discern what rape is? Furthermore, Emmerson is the most self-absorbing person ever. She doesn’t grasp the world around her. She doesn’t show concern with others. She didn’t see her brother for years, and when he comes back she doesn’t even give him a glimpse. The only good thing about her is her self-esteem. Only that.

I pray to God the writer doesn’t know want rape is, because believe me, you never make fun of it, take it lightly, forget, or forgive!! After going through something like that, your mind and body need time and space to heal. You can't stand people touch you in any way. I really didn’t want to mean or aggressive. If so, forgive me. Again, the characters had so much potential.
