"This is an adventure in making a marriage work - in the bloodthirsty age of the vikings. The hero is a chief who learned to be ruthless, and the heroine is a servant who has learned to keep her optimism. Politics, treachery, culture and traditions play into a dramatic story of the strength of love. This author clearly learnt to write before AI and has a skilful and authentic human tone. The dialogue is natural and the story line flows beautifully. The author has also gone to a lot of effort to ensure that historical details are accurate. Some minor spelling typos. 🎥 Dual perspectives. Clearly signposted 🤬 some swearing 🔪 explicit battle violence. Torture scenes occur off stage. 💋 graphic sex scenes. 🔚 The author has written 2 epilogue endings. One later in life, and one later in history. I would read the 2 chapters in the opposite order of what they appear (chapter 36 then chapter 35). "

From the desperate kiss Brita gave him and his decision to marry her to get out of Gunner’s plan it set the stage for their journey. It is a roller-coaster ride of humor, spice, sadness heartwarming moments and heartbreak. I love that they made it through each thing that came between them and came out stronger. "I was very excited to stubble upon this book. The authors research done into the subject has peaked my interest, and now I want to know more about Viking culture and their history. The rich and unique storyline the author painted was easily envisioned, making the personalities of the characters more complex, and engaging. This was really appreciated when reading the more spicier scenes. The harshness of their daily lives and the expectations of reality led to so many suspenseful and emotional moments, it was riveting. "Lotz I must say upfront that I'm an avid reader of your books however I believe my review will not be biased just my honest thoughts.. I loved this book.. the image your book depicted of those times it is set in is very much how I had imagined it to be back then esp with the honour of your family & task to wipe out the bloodline of your family's murderers.. the bond between kinsmen and relying on them to stick by you in times of war is what I've perceived of early Vikings also as well as their hardships they go thru.. the characters all had very strong roles throughout the book & melded into the story beautifully and the character of each person was clearly shown through your writing style.. the spark and passion & let's not forget great love between Magnus & Britta was well written.. I was getting a bit hot n bothered by some of their sex scenes they were so intense.. Was so heartwarming when Britta became pregnant giving Kari a sibling which I felt stopped Kari falling apart when Disa was returned home to her family & I was well pleased when they were reunited.. though Arne didn't come into the story till late in the book he seemed to possess the same characteristics of his father's early life persona with being hot headed but very grounded from his mother's strict instructions in his upbringing so his character was depicted strongly even tho as mentioned he only came into the book toward the end.. and poor Alric really had the tough end of the stick but was a steadfast person & the bane of Magnus's existence so it was fitting after all he'd gone thru from Magnus that he was the trusted person who kept the family together.. This. Book would be a great read for anyone who loves something out the norm in reading.. it's packed with action & adventure.. love & erotica.. highs & lows.. And shows what perseverance and sacrifice can bring even if your family isn't living as it once was, it shows what the strength & bond & love of the family can overcome.. T x "
