A Beautiful Piece
This short story is exquisitely done. It's a poignant demonstration of the coping mechanisms of the human spirit regarding deep loss. It is also interesting to me that the character is named Gabriel. One would need to love at a truly angelic depth to make such a critical act of desperation. There is an innate feeling that the author, D.I. Jolly, spilled the droplets of his soul onto the page in a perfect expression of the awful angst associated with the loss of one's child. The children's rhyme that "melts in his ears" hits the heart with profound precision. It's a beautiful piece.
