"For the most part this was a decent story. It sets up well, explains the backstory sufficiently to allow the plot to move around it. The female leads powers are explained so there are no mistakes as to when she uses them, visual clues are provided by her as she uses them. Having a Grandmother with second sight proves interesting and helps the reader assume that certain things are set in stone, and yet...for all that certainty there are switches that happen anyway that either makes the future unclear or only the big things certain. Imagine a Seer telling you that you will travel to a place, but along the way you get sidetracked for a bit and then make it to the place. The seer isn't wrong as they didn't tell you everything, only that you would reach the place. There were some issues with the established chapters but once pointed out the author fixed the continuity issues and it reads much better now. My only criticism on this book is the female lead suffers too much in my mind. She does what she can to help out, sacrifices herself to save another character, and yet still suffers a curse for her efforts. One that impacts her own mate experience. It was never disclosed how the Fae villain got away from his captors to threaten her in the end, we are just supposed to accept it. It ended well, after a few missed turns. I suppose it could get a sequel, for once I hope so because this needed more elaboration. "

"The story idea is really good, very imaginative. There were a few times the story seemed a little disjointed, details being at a different point than would make sense. Some grammar and spelling issues. Overall, worth a read."

"This was a fun story. There is drama, humor, mystery, and just a little horror. I like the characters and the supernatural world they inhabit. I especially appreciate the tortoise shifters. I had a few issues with the technical quality of the writing. Some words were misused, which is distracting. If you had a beta reader, they might catch those incidents. Overall, though, it is a very fun story. "
