"Okay wait because this is exactly the kind of story that tricks you. It literally opens with an accident. Like actual impact. Metal, chaos, hospital room, two strangers thrown into proximity by something random and inconvenient. And you think, oh, so this is going to be one of those fate stories where destiny crashes people together, I even thought it was going to be isekai. But the wild part is that by the end, it does not feel like fate at all. It feels inevitable. That is such a hard thing to pull off. The story starts with something unpredictable and almost comedic in its absurdity, and then slowly, quietly, it convinces you that these two would have found each other anyway. The accident becomes a door, not the reason. It is clever because it gives you unpredictability at the start, you genuinely do not know what is coming next, and that unpredictability adds to the humor and the lightness. Yet the emotional arc feels grounded and earned. Levi is dealing with something very real from the beginning. He is not just recovering from physical injury. The way he overthinks, the way he clings to uncertainty because it feels safer than being fully chosen, the way he measures his worth like it is a performance review. It feels painfully familiar. And then the narrative does something beautiful. You settle into Levi’s voice. You assume you are going to live inside his head for the entire ride. You get comfortable in his spirals, his humor, his defensive commentary. And then the cut to August’s point of view arrives at exactly the right moment. It is clean. It is intentional. It feels like the story saying, you think you understand this dynamic, but you are only seeing one half of it. What really elevates it, though, is how much it feels like actual life. Real life. Dreaming about someone and waking up with that heavy, soft feeling in your chest. Going through your day with them in the background of your thoughts. The awkwardness of phone calls with parents. The tension of coming out. The way a parent’s reaction can echo into adulthood. The way kids absorb everything you say, even the things you think are harmless. The story touches on how words shape people, how family dynamics ripple forward, how situationships distort self worth, how friendships evolve or collapse. It is about learning. Some characters grow. Some do not. And that is important. The ones who refuse to reflect, who refuse to shift, quietly fade into the background. The story does not punish them dramatically. And that is why it feels bittersweet when it ends. Reading it feels like walking alongside someone’s life for a while. I log in every day to check what happened next. I start anticipating their small routines. When it is over, there is this strange emptiness, like I moved cities and left neighbors behind. I want an epilogue. I want to peek into their future. Hoping there's a possibility for an extra chapter....🤭 All in all, it is a story about impact, about inevitability, about learning how to care without flinching. It is about friendships that do not work out, parents who shape you more than you would like, kids who are watching, and love that grows in ordinary kitchens and car rides instead of grand declarations. "This is such a sweet story, with characters who manage to get in their own way so often it’s a very real relief when they manage to jump over the hurdles in their own brains. In fact, from the heart warming moments to me shouting at the screen and practically pacing, I felt like I’d earned a prize by the end. Fabulous."
