Intense & beautiful
"At some point I throught it was going to be the same high school drama... boy likes girl, other girl was “first” etc. But it was so deep, intense and I don’t even have the right words. I couldn’t stop reading this book. I hope more teenagers were that mature and understanding. And it’s beautiful when the one who was bullied doesn’t turn out to be a bully themself. It took me a while to understand that what happens to you in life doesn’t define you as a person or what your future should look like. It takes a lot of effort, (auto) compassion and a “village” to overcome bad experiences, losses, addictions and whatever curve ball life throws at us. And the characters showed respect, love, understanding, and a lot of support! I know it’s “just” a book, but it moved me in ways that I can’t even express. Every book, story, heals something in me (us?). Thank you! 🩷"

"Read story straight through. Not quite what I expected from the best friend's brother trope-it was layered, funny, uncomfortable, and emotional at times. Great if you like a slow build and relatable characters starting to figure out who they are within themselves and in relation to each other. A quick read with satisfying ending. Gia was relatable and sweet, and Ethan was intriguing, intense, and charming all at once. Didn't see that coming with the family dynamics and his past. Solid dialogue. Spice included but not excessive. Loved the tension between them. Loved Gia's friends, would love to know what happened with Adam and Rachael. Good job!"

"I read all the chapters posted so far, up to Chapter 13, and I am fully invested. This story is such a soft, emotional slow burn in the best way. Gia feels incredibly real, sweet, a little awkward, thoughtful, and easy to root for. Her inner thoughts are so relatable, especially the self-doubt, the overthinking, and the way she processes crushes and friendships. I found myself smiling at so many little moments because they felt true. And Ethan... wow. The tension between them is delicious. The chemistry is there from the start, but it’s layered with restraint, hesitation, and longing that makes every interaction feel meaningful. The small touches, the glances, the conversations that linger, this is the kind of romance that makes your stomach flutter instead of just jumping straight to the obvious stuff. I also love the friendships in this book. Rachael is such a fun, loyal best-friend character, and the group dynamics feel natural and lived-in. Even the messy or uncomfortable moments add to the realism instead of pulling me out of the story.
