Great so far
"Loves the plot and character "
★★★★1⁄2
"The strongest part of the novel is its cast. Stella, Kaiser, Calin, Aaron, Heather and the supporting characters have distinct personalities, and their friendships often feel as important as the romantic relationships. The banter is genuinely funny, particularly when the supernatural becomes completely ordinary to the people living with it. The mystery also rewards paying attention. Details that initially seem unimportant gain meaning later, and the recurring imagery of trees, roots and interconnected systems develops into something much more significant than a title metaphor. The final return to the Guardian gives the story a satisfying sense of having come full circle. The book isn't flawless; however, those problems didn't outweigh what worked for me. This is ultimately a story about identity, friendship, family, belonging and the things connecting people beneath the differences visible on the surface. It manages to be funny and romantic without losing the mystery that drives it. Most importantly, by the ending I could look back at the beginning and see that the story had been telling me what mattered all along. The branches were the distraction. The roots were the story."
This book had me from the very beginning, right until the end. Beautiful story!

The Roots That Bind Us
"A very unique story with a differently driven plot line. I appreciated it though there were some areas that didn't make sense as if a chapter may be missing. There's also room to explore certain areas that could have taken the book deeper. The last chapter of the epilog needs cleaning up and I would have liked to see more story before getting there. Lots of potential here. "
