Problematic But Good Potential

"I want to love this story. It’s intriguing in a good way. The characters are interesting, the plot is ok, the delivery, though? That’s where the problems begin. Between too many points of view in a single chapter, too few details to any point of view, introducing characters without any actual information about them, using multiple names for characters and expecting the reader to understand who is referenced , and then the repetition of phrases that don’t do anything to move the plot, it’s been difficult to continue reading. First, points of view: the most I counted in one chapter was five different points of view, with each getting no more than a few sentences to a couple of paragraphs in the entire chapter There should be no more than one, *maybe* two, points of view per chapter. Each viewpoint should be fully fleshed out with enough details to create an image in the reader’s mind’s eye. Characters need an introduction . It doesn’t need to be a full description of them physically but can include some features. Give us something about them which will allow us to differentiate between them. Also, if writing about a character with multiple names, the author shouldn’t expect the reader to understand that. The repetition of phrases is plain annoying. Some are repeated several times in a chapter, such as how “something remembers,” or that the something is waking up. It’s always the same words, no variation. To the reader it can be frustrating. Ok. It remembers. So do I. Please, for the love of the written word, give us something new to mull on! A thesaurus is an author’s friend. This story has the potential to be a really good book if the author is willing to revisit and give it the detail it needs, expanding on things already there and fixing the problems with several of the characters.
