This is a lovely short story which has fully captured the essence of the art of writing. It is simple, visually stunning, poignant and has a surprising end. It is neither too long or too short and the reader can feel the protagonist's emotions. Wonderful piece of work.

An amazing story

This is one of the best stories I have read. The Devadasi is an age old custom that has been a favourite topic of story writers and poets. This story stands out among the genre of such creative writing. The feelings of the unfortunate women who once held a respected position and were later forced into sexual slavery is depicted in a poignant manner. Krishnapriya's devotion to God and her ultimate triumph over the lecherous head priest makes a fascinating read. Kanakalaxmi's love and concern for the girl she considers a daughter is realistic as is her helplessness. The author's language is emotive and keeps the reader spell bound.
