Intriguing insight into human psychology

The author is clearly capable of constructing grammatically sound sentences, with an evident flair for creative writing. This piece of text, however, requires heavy thought and deep concentration in order to fully appreciate its significance. There is, at times, a lack of flow within the themes and this is perhaps caused by the fragmented structure of the text itself. The text's lack of fluidity, therefore, leads to the reader becoming apathetic or uninterested. What the text lacks in clarity, however, it makes up for with an articulate and insightful introduction and unique narrative tone. Perfect for those who are after a read that evokes thought.

A very promising novel

This plot has everything to make Keep Your Promises a successful novel. The reader is easily drawn into the story of the protagonist and we are given a clear idea of their emotions. Given that the author is so young, it is very hard not to be impressed by the outstanding potential of their writing. Miss Kiritharan has a clear flair for creating big plot lines and emotionally complex characters. Over the years, I have no doubt that if the author takes on some of the constructive critique she receives regarding her writing style and technique, she will soon find herself able to write excellent novels. Point of improvement: less is more. It would be beneficial for the author to perhaps invest some time in practising writing short stories, in which they show the reader that their protagonist is feeling angry/upset/frustrated for example, as opposed to explicitly telling us that they feel this way. Miss Kiritharan should be very proud of this promising attempt at what is a very tricky genre.

Heart-wrenching plot in a sensuous setting

AryaTara has created a wonderfully complex protagonist, who displays clear signs of emotional trauma and distress. With a brilliantly constructed romantic plot, designed to pluck the heart strings of all who are naturally romantic, it is hard not to fall for this Asian love tale. The author uses controversial themes such as arranged marriages intelligently, so that they work to the plot's advantage, as opposed to alienating the reader.

Point of improvement: This intelligent plot is often marred by a lack of technical finesse or grammatical accuracy. A considered editing of the text will help make this story the five-star masterpiece it deserves to be.

Very good - almost excellent.

Powerful writing here. The reader is soon drawn into the protagonist's anguish and the plot has all the ingredients necessary to be a bestseller. However, the author should watch out for certain cliches that take away from the potential elegance of the book. Punctation and grammar, at times, is not spot on. Author also fails into the trap of telling the reader something, as opposed to showing us. However, Vulnerable Heart (a fantastic title) is not far away from being an excellent novel in every aspect. Keep up the good work.
