"This book completely shattered me in the best way possible. Jamie and Louis’s story is a deeply tragic, heartbreaking journey filled with moments that will leave you utterly wrecked. The writing is exquisite. EXQUISITE. The prose flows effortlessly, and the grammar and punctuation are so flawless that you never get pulled out of the experience for even a second. Every character feels incredibly real; every ounce of their pain, struggle, and grief resonates on a visceral level. You feel every single second of it alongside them. I was already head over heels for Lou before diving in, but getting to know every intricate part of him in this book made me love him exponentially more. Be prepared: this series is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes its time to build an emotional weight that stays with you long after you turn the final page, making every step of that emotional ride worth taking. I recommend this series with every single fibre of my being. Unforgettable, beautifully written, and deeply moving."

"... ich auch Teil 3 nicht aus der Hand legen konnte? Band 3 legt nochmal eine ordentliche Schippe drauf. Er ist emotional, mit vielen sehr traurigen und dramatischen Momemten, aber auch Szenen voller Freude, Liebe und Freundschaft 🥰 Nach dem dramatischen Ende von Band 2 ist Louis zurück in Kalifornien und versucht alles, um Jamie zu helfen. Dabei versinkt er immer mehr in Selbsthass und gibt sich die Schuld an dem, was passiert ist. Er ist fest davon überzeugt, dass Jamie ohne ihn besser dran ist. Können Jamie's Familie und ihre gemeinsamen Freunde ihn vom Gegenteil überzeugen? Besonders begeistert haben mich Jamies Eltern, die in diesem Teil etwas mehr Raum einnehmen. Vor allem die Kapitel, in denen Louis mit Lilly spricht, haben mich sehr berührt 🥹 Aber auch Louis Eltern spielen in diesem Band eine Rolle und sie sind ebenso fantastische und liebevolle Menschen. Einer meiner absoluten Lieblingsteile waren die Kapitel über ihre Erinnerungen an Paris 🥰🇫🇷 Zu sehen, was Jamie und Lou dort an Weihnachten gemeinsam erlebt haben und wie glücklich und unbeschwert sie damals waren, war einfach wunderschön. Diese glücklichen und unbeschwerten Momente waren ein so schöner Kontrast zu der ansonsten herzzerreißenden Atmosphäre des Buches. Und obwohl ich SEHR viel geweint habe, musste ich gleichzeitig immer wieder lächeln. Ich habe diesen Band absolut geliebt und kann ihn gar nicht genug empfehlen! Und jetzt brauche ich ganz dringend Teil 4 😘🫶"
2 A.M., 29 Chapters, and Emotional Damage 😮💨
"I originally planned to ease myself back into reading because I’d been in such a slump, but the second I started again, Mae somehow had me completely hooked. Next thing I knew it was 2 a.m. and I had binged all 29 chapters like some kind of emotional maniac.🤣 And now my heart is in pieces and I’m wide awake staring at the ceiling.😖 Gooosh, I genuinely thought book two had already emotionally destroyed me enough, but apparently Mae took that as a challenge because book three somehow managed to throw me straight back into the pain all over again!!😭 The emotions in this one are absolutely brutal in the best possible way. The constant back and forth between Louis sitting beside Jamie while he’s in a coma and the memories of the two of them together has been some of my favorite and most painful writing in the series so far. 😖❤️🩹 Those chapters genuinely hurt. There is something about being shown what they had while Louis is sitting there terrified of losing it that makes every memory hit ten times harder. And it isn’t only Louis and Jamie carrying this book either. Lilly, Taylor, Landon, Hetty, Harry, Lea... every conversation and every reaction adds another layer to it. The people who love Jamie are basically carrying this book on their bleeding shoulders, and somehow Mae makes every single one of them feel important. AND LOU? LOUIS has absolutely broken my heart. His guilt, his self-hatred and those darker, self-destructive feelings feel painfully real, and there were so many moments where I could understand him more than I probably wanted to. My poor baby Lou. 🥺 What I love most, though, is that this book isn’t only pain. There is healing underneath it too. You can feel how much the characters and their relationships have grown, not only Jamie and Louis, but everyone surrounding them as well. 😩 It’s heartbreaking, painful, hopeful, frightening and strangely healing all at once. Basically: complete emotional chaos in my brain (Thank you for that rollercoaster Mae!)😭 And the worst part? IT ISN’T EVEN FINISHED YET. I’m excited, nervous, wide awake and honestly a little scared of whatever Mae is planning next. 😭❤️ Mae, you’ve managed to leave me speechless again. I genuinely thought book two was the emotional death blow. Apparently I was wrong.😭"
