Ominous and compelling

Only a few chapters in to this tale, and the author has already managed to create a gripping setting in the antebellum South, where the young protagonist is sold to a new plantation. When she arrives, it is immediately clear that the owners are creepy and disturbing in ways above and beyond their enslavement of Ada and the other workers on the plantation.

By the time that Ada meets a vampire, it feels safer to be with him than with the dangerous humans around her. We haven't gotten far enough into the story yet to really understand the vampire's background and nature, but it is already clear that this is not a stereotypical vampire tale. There are characteristics and abilities that the vampire possesses which I have not seen elsewhere, and it promises to be extremely intriguing to watch as we learn more.

I'm greatly looking forward to following along as the author continues to post chapters.

Well done!

Short story with room for growth

This is an interesting short story. It feels like the characters and universe they are in could be expanded to a far larger book, so we could see a lot more details explaining exactly what is going on here. For me, though, the best part of any story is always the love, and in this little tale it is sweet and strong.

Sweetly romantic

This was a sweet story of deep love between two men, with a bit of a freaky sci-fi twist. I really enjoyed how much emphasis was placed on the fact that the main characters loved each other so completely. The detailed descriptions of their physical interactions were interesting and enlightening. The sci-fi bit was a twist, but really the best part of the story was the message that true love can be powerful and intense and enjoyable. I love stories about love!

So creative

This is the second book I have read from this author, and I am shocked at how much I am enjoying this alien abduction romance genre. How creative! I have really enjoyed the alien cultures, and how real the emotions are even though the participants are not all human. Thanks for the great read!

Chilling then touching

Such an interesting story. The first scenes were chilling in how clinical and detached the alien scientist was, then it became very sweet as the characters got to know and help each other. And of course the whole thing was very spicy and fun.

Verlore

Very creative story. It took a long time to stop being thoroughly confused about what was happening, but I think that was deliberate since the main character was confused as well. The plot is very compelling- I had to keep reading! There are some technical things that could use some editing, like consistency in tense (past/present switches back and forth a lot) and breaking down dialogue to make it clear which character is speaking. The spicy scenes are very spicy! Altogether a great read. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.

Love conquers all

What originally drew me to this story was the blindness of the king. A very creative and original approach to the werewolf/Lycan trope. It was very intriguing, to see a strong and powerful ruler with a hidden disability. I loved the descriptions of how he handled his visual impairment and hid it from almost all of his subjects, for fear of appearing weak. When we meet his mate we find that she has problems of her own, having issues with body image. Their love quickly resolves these problems, and they are left behind as the story moves on to more challenges for the couple. Their ability to overcome everything together is very fulfilling, their love scenes are sweet and spicy, and the ending is very satisfying.

Lyrical and intriguing

The author has not finished the story, but already the characters are intensely intriguing and the plot is thick with suspense, romance and mystery. It is immediately evident that the humans are the villains here, beginning with the most horrific treatment by a vampire hunter of his daughters. The vampire lore in the book feels very different than I have seen in other stories, with rules and attributes that bind the vampires, despite their incredible strength and abilities. It seems that for these vampires, drinking blood comes at a cost, and this complicates the burgeoning love story that is sweet and spicy and suspenseful. There are werewolves too, and these also seem very different from the wolves we see in so many other stories on this site.

The author's writing is beautiful - so lyrical at times as to be poetic. I feel that this is some of the best writing I have seen on Inkitt. It is a true pleasure to read.

I greatly look forward to seeing the story continue.

Fated mates tale

An entertaining werewolf/fated mates story. The lead characters eventually figured out that in order to make their relationship work, they really needed to communicate better. The sweet happy ending was a nice payoff.

Profoundly dark

Such an interesting start to this story. I'm writing this review after having read the first 16 chapters, and don't know how much longer the book will end up being. But so far, it is a fascinating descent into apparent vampiric madness. The writing style is lurid but somehow also clipped, with the feeling that words are missing, as though the character's thoughts can't be conveyed with normal expressions. Particularly for the first couple of chapters, the writing style seems unusually dense and difficult to parse. I feel that the author has done this deliberately to add to the sense of dread and confusion as the story begins.

The different threads of the storyline are starting to come together, with the characters finally meeting each other, who knows to what end?

I'll be continuing to follow this story as the author posts further updates. I'll be interested to see how it unfolds.

Luna's Angel

An enjoyable and well-written departure from the very popular werewolf genre. It was a pleasure to see werewolf society not only described and explained, but also criticized and modified. The main character seems very relatable and human even while he has been transformed into an avenging angel. Well done!

Humorous and compelling

What a romp! This story was so thoroughly enjoyable. The characters were all incredibly vivid. The way that the author weaves their different backgrounds and interests into the storyline made it seem like we were really living in their world. And best of all, there is a lot of really top-rate humor. Some parts were seriously hilarious. This was a treat to read.
