It wasn’t Vivienne, though the lifeless face was definitely going to be the highlight of her nightmares.

She continued walking, even though she had the prickly feeling that someone was watching her from behind.

She didn’t turn around, scared of what she might find.

Then, she felt it again. But this time, the skin wasn’t that cold. It was quite warm.

She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, trying to prepare herself for what she might see, and looked down.

That didn’t help her at all though, she still gasped, her gasp echoing eerily in the quiet night air; her heart still raced as though in a marathon; her breathing still hitched; a shiver still ran sharply down her spine.

There was Vivienne, lying in the grass, a bullet through her heart, limbs mangled, blood everywhere, eyes lifeless.

Lydia—against all her instincts—kneeled down beside Vivienne’s body, squeezing her wrist tightly.

There was no pulse.
