A great beginning!
I just completed the first chapter, and I am hooked! The story has a great plot, characters that in just the first chapter I've learned a good deal about--and will likely learn a lot more as I continue--and a vivid description that paints the picture well. This author has real talent!

I'm a huge fan of fantasy, so the summary caught my eye at once. I've just finished the first chapter, and I think you've got a real winner on your hands.
The plot is unique and interesting, with an unassuming and unlikely character being forced into a lead role. I had a lot of questions after completing the first chapter, but these weren't holes or shortcomings. I was curious as to this young woman, her past, and where her strange gift would lead her.
I do think some more time could be spent on more detail as to the characters; their appearance, mannerisms, etc. I had some difficulty visualizing what they looked like, but only some. There's not much lacking in this story.
