Great Premise. Great Writing

Cyberpunk has always interested me as a genre and this did not disappoint.
The descriptions and world building are on point.

Lots of potential here!

This is a very intriguing book, with lots of vivid descriptions. The narrator is by far the strongest aspect of this book and having read the first 3 chapters only, I want to read more to see you you advance it.
Slightly too much exposition, but then again, that is part and parcel of epic fantasy like this.
Tighten up the grammar and punctuation and you have a formidable work on your hands.

Hooked!

10 pages in and I can't put the book down. The opening scene with the little girl made me feel tense, before making my heart sink. The introduction to the main character is perfect, with a sleazy casino being the right setting for a noir.
This boom is a nice, easy read for anyone who likes their detective fiction.

Enjoyable start (1st 3 chapters)

This is a solid piece of work. Ever since Game of Thrones, I like reading books that switch points of view because it gives the reader a sense of scope and builds a fleshed out world.
The book has a humorous tone, I laughed at The Wizard of Oz reference. The descriptions are excellent, making it easy to picture the scene as well as empathise with the characters.
The build up had me excited to read more.

Great Start

Jbarron has started what promises to be a very timely work of fiction. With the use of simple sentence structure, she crafts a world that is falling prey to the rise of fascism. The way it is portrayed in this book shows how subtley it spreads. With respectable politicians like Nathaniel Burgin's, opportunistically allying with racists in order to further their aims.
It's not heavy handed either, the writing is amusing at times, lines like 'this knife would make you look like a badass' alleviates the sense of creeping dread in those first chapters.
The ending of the chapter hooked me and I would be very happy to read more of this, should Jbarron upload them.
