A Treat for YA Lovers!
There are a lot of dystopian YA series out there like The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, etc. (Though my favorite will always be the ongoing TV adaptation of The 100). The Respawners is worthy of becoming serialized on TV as well. The pacing is its best aspect and the plot is an original for the post-apocalyptic genre.
I think some people might be turned off after reading the premise of The Respawners due to its cliched synopsis, but rest assured, you won't find the overall novel to be stereotypical. The antagonists are terrifying and the main storyline is memorable. Also, the ending will leave you begging for more.
One flaw is that the side characters and many of the subplots become more interesting, than the central storyline and the primary protagonist, many times into the story. It would've been better for the writer to balance all these individuals and subplots so as to make a comprehensively thrilling novel.
Nevertheless, The Respawners is a must-read for both the fans of dystopian stories such as The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc and also for those looking for something original literature-wise.
