Chapter 1
"Planning on using that on someone Wendell?" Inquired Harry, referring to the pink, heart-shaped, glittering bottle she was holding in her hands.
"I mean if you're interested in being my victim, Potter. Then, yes." Teased Amara.
Harry laughed heartily, he then leaned down and whispered into her ear. "You don't need a love potion to make me fall in love with you."
Amara's cheeks turned to a soft pink hue. "You're such a twat." She said after hitting Harry lightly on his arm.
Harry chuckled. "What did I do now?"
"You know bloody well-"
"Interested in buying a love potion are you?" Fred teased.
Amara and Harry turned to look at Fred, who was accompanied by his twin brother, George.
"No, not really," the two replied, before returning their attention to the pink bottles on the shelf.
"Oh come on Fred. These two don't need love potions to get blokes and girls to fall in love with them," asserted George.
"Yeah, I suppose you're right," agreed Fred.
"Especially Amara. I mean look at you, you're gorgeous," added George.
Harry furrowed his eyebrows at the flattery. He wondered whether George liked her or was just being polite.
Amara flushed at the compliment. "Thank you, George," she smiled at him gratefully.
"Do these love potion things actually work?" Ginny questioned.
"Oh yeah," the twins responded simultaneously.
"Although, I'd be careful. It's quite powerful." Fred warned.
The group wandered around the shop for awhile with the twins as their guide. Letting them know what each and every thing does. Amara paused a few times to take another look at some of the objects that had drawn her attention. And it didn't go unnoticed by a certain brunette.
The group decided to split up after realizing they wanted to explore separate areas of Diagon Alley after leaving the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. Ginny and Dean went to visit Quality Quidditch Supplies, Amara and Harry headed to Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlor, and Ron and Hermione headed to Flourish and Blotts.
"Mars?" Called Harry, stopping in the middle of Diagon Alley.
"Yes, Harry?" Amara answered, stopping and turning to face him.
"I have an idea." He blurted out.
"What's your idea?"
"Since we both love playing games with each other, how about we make a bet?" Harry proposed an offer. His heart was pounding in his chest. His hands were just slightly trembling. He was aware that their relationship would change forever if she approved his offer.
"What's the bet about?" Amara wondered, puzzled, why he suddenly wanted to make a bet while they were walking down Diagon Alley to the Ice Cream Parlour.
"Love." He mumbled out of nervousness.
"Sorry?" her features conturted to confusion. "Could you repeat that?" She asked.
"I said, uhm. Love." He repeated himself, but this time his voice was louder and clearer.
"Oh, you mean like a bet about who can fall in love first?" The puzzled girl queried, slowly starting to understand his offer.
'Hey, that's even better than my original idea.' He thought silently.
"Yes," he replied.
"Okay."
"So, you're in?" he questioned, excitement slowly starting to fill his eyes.
"Yeah, why not. Sounds fun," she affirmed.
"Brilliant."
"So, how much are we betting?" She questioned, still uncertain about some aspects of the bet.
"Around 10 galleons." He clarified.
"10? I'm not betting that much on this."
"Are you afraid of losing, love?" He teased, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips.
"No, it's just too much money. Although, I'll do 5 galleons. Take it or leave it." Mars stared.
"5 galleons it is." He agreed.
"You are aware of what else is at stake, right?
"Our hearts?" He responded hesitantly.
"Hmm, smart boy." Amara praised. "But you're missing something."
"Our friendship." He answered once more, this time with a note of sadness in his voice,"If this doesn't work out, there will be major consequences."
"Are you willing to take the risk, harry?" She asked, wanting to make sure this was something he was willing to go through with.
He hesitated. His longtime friendship with amara was one of the things he valued the most for the last 10 years. Was he willing to risk it all a silly bet that he had suggested in the first place.
He took a deep breath in, "yes," he replied. "Are you willing to risk it?"
She thought before answering. She asked herself if she really wanted to follow through with this as well. Nevertheless, she gave her final response, saying, "Yes, it's a deal."
"Now that that's settled." He leaned his head down and whispered into her ear. "Just a heads up love, you are definitely going to fall in love with me before the year ends."
She playfully rolled her eyes and grabbed him by his jacket to close the gap between the two of them."Are you sure about that Potter? Because I know for a fact that you'll be head over heels for me in a few months."
"You'll see."
"Well, you did just confess earlier that 'I don't need a love potion to make you fall in love with me." She mused, recalling the interaction between the two earlier that day.
The brunette cursed under his breath. "I'll prove it." He asserted her, though his heart was pounding in his chest. And he was sure Amara could hear it by now and would call bluff.
"You can try, pretty boy."
