Chapter 1
You know when you look back at your life and say ‘What a good life I have so many ups and down but I made it and I should be proud’. That never happened to me, I am still a teenager though.
My life is pretty bland, all of my life frustrations are poured into my studies. It is no surprise that I am always ranked within the top three of our school.
“Anya, did you finish packing up?” shouted my mother from downstairs.
“Just about finished!”
For the summer holiday, we always head out to my mother’s hometown. It is nice to spend time with my grandparents since we don’t get to see them a lot.
My grandparents live in a small town away from the hectic city life. I like spending our summer with them, it feels like a breath of fresh air away from the stress of school and the drama that comes with it.
There is a lovely community in the town where everyone knows everyone. You would think that because we don’t live there no one knows our little family, but I feel like everyone knew me even before I was aware of what is happening around me.
The town is like a second home for me where everyone cares about each other. There can be drama believe me, but that is a story for another time. For now, I can’t wait to see my grandparents.
I came downstairs to find my mom, frantically moving from a room to another trying to pack everything that we need. My mother is the kind of person that likes to pack the whole house when traveling.
I guess I am the same when it comes to clothes, I can never decide on what I should take with me. I am a bit moody and I like for my clothes to reflect what I am feeling. Sometimes the town is cold at night that is why I should pack warmer clothes too. And this just snowballs to the point I am taking two big suitcases worth of clothes.
By night, everyone had everything packed up in the car and ready to go early in the morning. Apparently, my mum and I were the only ones holding up everyone. And by everyone I mean my brother and father since they only need their “essentials” when traveling.
I went to sleep exited about the next few months and what comes with it.
