Prologue

Day cast a weary glance at the changing color horizon before it.

Its favorite bright orange color was slowly fading into deep purple from the sky.

It raised its eyelids full of sleep and looked at its friend Earth for the last time and then closed its eyes and left for the journey to other countries.

As soon as its eyes were closed, animals and birds also started returning to their nests.

The chirping of the birds subsided and the night dwellers began to raise their heads.

Bats, owls and fireflies…

And where these lights were not there to illuminate, the artificial lights invented by humans started erasing the blackness of night in their houses one by one.

One of these houses was also where these artificial lights were used most.

The house built in the style of a mansion surrounded by palm trees at that time showed the way to the guests who came towards it from a distance of a few miles.

It was the ancestral home of Advocate Jahangir, which his family now used as a farmhouse.

New demands of the new age…

Here today was the reception ceremony of his youngest son.

Although the guests had not yet started arriving, But in whose honor this special feast was being prepared, They were disgusted by it.

A front room on the second floor of the house with a balcony window opening onto the lawn below was given to the couple for preparation.

“What a farce!” Advocate Jehangir’s youngest son stood on the same balcony and saw the hustle and bustle in the lawn below and said.

“You’re not ready yet. Guests will be arriving soon.” He heard his wife’s voice behind him. She had just come from the salon after getting ready for the ceremony.

When she walked, the anklets of her feet and the bangles of her hands would tell her every movement.

The scent of her henna would tell him the news of her arrival before she arrived.

But now all these fragrances seemed meaningless to him.

“What is the need for this spectacle?” His handsome face turned ugly as he uttered the phrase.

“You know why is it needed?” His wife’s tone was soft but tired.

He turned to her and walked past her as if he hadn’t even seen her.

This time his wife's face was covered with the color of sorrow as well as embarrassment.

There was a sound of water falling from the bathroom.

She knew that whatever it was, he would be ready and down in no time.

She glanced at the mirror on the wall in front of her and stopped with stunning expression.

Wasn’t her beauty such that one could glance at her?

Even if a woman reaches the moon, her desire to be praised will never go away.

She shook her head and shook that thought from her mind and moved on.

And the woman who denies this spirit of self-expression, denies her own nature.

After a while, both of them were laughing and welcoming the guests according to the script of the show.

“Indeed, if you want to see the true example of Made For Each Other, you have to look at these two.” A female guest saw them whispering and said.

“Raheel is such a handsome lad. But I can’t take my eyes off his wife. Even as a woman, I can’t take my eyes off her. After looking at her, I can see why Raheel married a girl of lower status than him.” The other woman also nodded in agreement.

“Yes, everyone was saying that she is a girl from a poor house, how will she adjust? But see how she has groomed herself in just one month. I remember that on the day of wedding, she was not even able to sit properly.” A third of the group of women also commented.

“I think that’s why they gave a month’s gap between the wedding and the reception. The honeymoon was just an excuse.” Another woman said ridiculously.

“I heard that the two of them had a very passionate love. If this is the case and then there is such intense love, then a month-long. Honeymoon is bound to happen.” At the end of this, everyone laughed loudly.

The guests were received with such plastic smiles and the function ended with the same plastic smiles.

When they came home after the function, Advocate Jahangir’s elder daughter-in-law Zaranish saw her brother-in-law smoking a cigarette on the lawn once again.

“Raheel, go to your room.” Zarnish knew her command was no longer effective. But this house was hers and no one had the right to destroy the peace of her house.

Not even her endeared brother-in-law.

“I feel suffocated there.”

“Then open the windows.”

"We have already performed on the stage you prepared, act on the script you wrote. What do you want now?” His tone was cold as the northern snow.

“Don’t forget that this is all your spread mess, which we are wrapping up.” Now when Zarnish spoke, all the worries, all the tenderness were missing from her tone.

She knew she had hit where it hurt the most.

However, there was complete silence on the other side.

Throwing away his cigarette, he walked past Zarnish and up the stairs without saying anything.

Zarnish was left staring at his back with forlorn expression on her face.

That smiling, mischievous boy was lost somewhere in the cigarette smoke. The man who was climbing up the stairs in his place, Zarnish could not recognize him.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
