Falling Through
I was by the fire roasting marshmallows with my best friend Klaus when everything went wrong. My friend Klaus was a German boy with an undercut. He had blue eyes and blonde hair, which makes him a chick magnet for some reason. He was skinny like me. “Hey Neo, you okay man?” “Yeah, I’m fine just thinkin back to the early days.” “Yeah I still remember my weight problems but that seems like a lifetime ago.” Then we heard a sound that sounded like a twig snap and someone cursing. I took out my green karambit I named Valley and locked eyes with Klaus wearing his brass knuckles. I nod back. He goes into a boxing posture.
A guy walked out of the woods. He was wearing bulletproof gear. 3 of his fatal points were covered by the equipment. The others were in his line of sight. “Sheesh talk about hostile. Chill out, would you?” “The last time you told us to chill, Marcus, you tried to fill us with bullets,” Klaus said with anger. “That was nothing personal, just business. Speaking of business, I have a job for you.” “No,” I said thinking about the pact Klaus and I made after our last encounter with Marcus. “Fire,” Marcus ordered. Bullets flew and Klaus pulled me into the lake. I didn’t feel a drowning sensation like I should have. Instead, I felt a churning in my stomach. I threw up while being surprised I could breathe. “What the hell is going on?” Klaus asked. We surfaced and my vision turned to black trying to reach for Klaus.
