Chapter 0
All I could remember was screaming.
Lots and lots of screaming.
Sirens wailing, people running, babies crying, dogs howling, cars racing and crashing.
I could hear the distant sound of thunder.
I could hear a woman’s voice, worried and scared, but yet still calm and gentle.
‘’Dahlia, Dahlia!’’
I turn around slowly as a beautiful woman with short blonde hair and bright blue eyes snatches me from a rushing car that would’ve killed me if she hadn’t grabbed me.
‘’Dahlia! Be careful, come, we have to hurry, the Cloud is nearly here.’’ My mother says, picking me up swiftly and rushing inside her building.
People in lab coats dash around the tower, which would’ve been normal for me if it hadn’t been the end of the world.
I saw my father in a passing room, he had circles under his eyes, and he looked exhausted.
I remember reaching out for him, but that was the last time I saw him.
I remember being placed in a tube-like bed, almost like a coffin. I remember looking fearfully at Ginger, my best friend, as her tube closed.
I looked fearfully up at my mother.
‘’Mama, what’s gonna happen to you?’’ I asked as she typed on a computer.
‘’I'll be alright dear, and so will you, i'll wake you up as soon as the Clouds gone, okay sweetheart.’’ She says, connecting the hydrogen tubes to my bed.
‘’It wont hurt, will it?’’ I ask her.
She smiles at me.
‘’Not one bit, it will be like your falling asleep, but you might get a bit chilly.’’
‘’You promise to unfreeze me when the Clouds gone?’’ I tell her. She nods.
‘’I prom-‘’
‘’ITS HERE!’’ Someone yells. I can hear the thunder. My mother smiles at me one last time, and then shuts the tube. As I feel drowsy, I see my mother smiling at me, tears spilling down her face. She says something, and it all fades to black. That was the last time I saw my mother.
