Chapter 1
It has been three years since Pokake and the Halla tribe had won the war and even though he keeps his feelings to himself Andrew still mourns his father’s death but he had to bury that feeling so he can train himself to have better control over his powers he also was nervous because since he is eighteen, he and Sarah are both moving out, but they don’t know where they are going to live and Lukas has taken his father’s death extremely hard but he still trains and joined the guard. So Andrew was pretty nervous but he knew that it was going to happen sooner rather than later. “You ready Andrew.” asked Sarah. “Yeah, just about.” Andrew answered. Sarah then said, “Andrew look me in the eyes and tell me what’s going on.” Andrew then said, “What makes you think something is wrong?” Sarah replied, “That’s my superpower. I know when you’re distracted also you only go to your father’s grave when you’re worried about something so tell me what’s going on.” Andrew then said, “Well I’m worried about the move and what happened at the war.” Sarah then said, “Why, we won it?” Andrew then replied, “You were there. He said he would be back and his look had the intention to kill all of us but his eyes were fixed on me.” Sarah then said, “So what, he’s been gone for three years.” Andrew then said, “Sarah, he might have disappeared but he isn’t gone.” Sarah then said, “Andrew you need to let go of that day.” Andrew then sensed something so he yelled at the bushes, “I know you’re there so come on out.” Sarah then got in her fighting stance and then Lucas came out of the bushes. “Wow I just came to visit.” Lucas said. Andrew then said, “Shouldn’t you be patrolling?” Lucas then said, “Well shouldn’t you be leaving?” Sarah then let out a little chuckle and Andrew said, “Fair enough but have you seen Kyle? He hasn’t checked in for three months.” Lucas then said, “No I haven’t seen him but if I do I will tell you, also you need to say goodbye to mom because I am positive you said it to dad.” Andrew then laughed and left to his house and Sarah followed. When they made it to Andrew’s mother house Andrew said, “Hey Mom I just wanted to tell you that we’re moving out today.” Andrew’s mom then replied, “Me and your father always dreamed of this day and we felt sad but right now I’m proud of the man you grew into.” Andrew then said, “Thanks but don’t forget to contact me and or Lucas if you’re in trouble.” Andrew’s mom then said, “I might be sixty-two but my memory is great.” Andrew then said, “I know I just don’t want to lose you too.” Andrew’s mom then said, “Don’t let your fathers death hold you back.” Sarah then said, “Don’t worry, I’ll keep him out of trouble.” “Hey!” Andrew exclaimed. Everyone laughed and Andrew and Sarah were about to leave when someone ran up to them. Andrew recognized the person, he was from Kyle’s group so Andrew grabbed the man and asked, “What’s wrong?” The man was scared to death and bleeding a lot so all he said was, “They’re captured. He’s coming.” “Who’s coming?” Andrew asked but it was too late the man died in his arms. Andrew then said, “Sarah stay here and take care of mom.” Sarah then asked, “What’s wrong?” Andrew replied, “I’m going to find out.” Andrew’s instinct then kicked in and he powered up and ran to the gates of the city where he found Lucas and the guards preparing for battle. “What’s going on?” asked Andrew. “Don’t know yet, this fog just appeared out of nowhere and it is too thick to see through.” Lucas replied. Then out of the fog Javier then walked out of the fog, and appeared to be holding a man. Javier said, “Ain’t this touching all this and more just to catch me.” Lucas then yelled, “Come in calmly and nobody has to get hurt.” Javier then said, “How about a trade? I give you back this soldier unharmed.” Javier then threw Kyle on the ground Andrew then said surprised, “How did you capture him?” Javier then said, “Him and his army came to kill me and nearly succeeded but I caught them and I killed every last one of them but this one.” Andrew was just about to launch after him but he couldn’t put his friend’s life in danger. Lucas then asked, “What do you want for him?” Javier smiled and said, “Not what, who?” Lucas then said, “I don’t understand.” Javier then said, “Well it’s very simple, hand over Andrew and I’ll give you this man. A life for a life.” Everyone laughed but Andrew knew he was dead serious so he yelled, “I’m not handing myself over and if you kill him I’ll kill you.” Javier then said, “I thought you’d say that, so I’d say you have forty seconds until your mother dies.” Andrew’s eyes grew big and he ran back home and when he got there he saw a huge shadow monster fighting Sarah, so Andrew went to help fight but was hit by a blow dart that came from the woods. Andrew then became paralyzed from the neck down and watched as the monster knocked out Sarah and picked up his mom. The monster then threw Andrew’s mom through a wall and then picked her up again and made sure Andrew watched the monster suffocate his mother. And as soon as Andrew’s mom was dead the monster disappeared and Andrew was immediately healed from the paralyzation and he ran to his mothers dead body. Soon Sarah woke up and saw Andrew grieving over his mother’s body and said, “I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect her.” Andrew then said, “Don’t blame yourself it’s my fault I should’ve accepted the deal.” Sarah then said, “Andrew don’t blame yourself either and what deal?” Andrew then said, “Remember when we were fifthteen and I was unconscious fighting my power.” Sarah then answered, “Yeah so” Andrew then continued, “Well when I was fighting myself my powers gave me an option to stop fighting and save my loved ones lives. I didn’t understand but I knew I had to win the fight so I said no. So when dad died I thought it was a coincidence and didn’t think anything about it but today when Javier said that he was going to kill mom I then knew my powers weren’t lying.” Sarah then said, “Well the right choice isn’t always the best choice.” Andrew then started crying and said, “They can’t even come to Lucas’ graduation next year because of me.” Sarah knew she couldn’t say anything so all she did was stand next to Andrew. Lucas then came and saw Andrew kneeling next to their mother’s body and said, “Andrew, you don’t want to hear this but Javier got away.” Andrew then asked, “Is Kyle safe?” Lucas replied, “Yes he is.” Andrew then said, “Good, but I’m finishing this.” Lucas then asked, “How, our army isn’t as big as his even with the village plus if you kill him there will always be another one.” Andrew then thought about it for a moment and asked, “How do you know there will be another one?” Lucas then replied, “I know because for eight years you’ve been fighting the shadow monsters and whenever you killed their leader another one appeared each more powerful.” Andrew knew what Lucas said was true but the only thing on his mind was the fact that if Javier isn’t stopped he might kill Lucas too. Sarah then said, “Andrew, Lucas is right and you know it. No matter how many fights you win, there will always be another fight.” Andrew then said, “In our last fight Javier told me that I am the most annoying of Charles’ and James’ enemies.” Lucas then said, “So what, if you forgot he killed dad at that moment too.” Andrew then got mad and said, “You think I don’t know that.” Lucas then said, “Andrew calm down, I’m sorry.” Andrew then said, “Dad jumped in the way of the arm blade or whatever because he knew what Javier said meant something.” Lucas then said, “Or probably he didn’t want his son to die.” Andrew thought about it for a moment and said, “Javier is bounty hunter of some sort and…” Andrew paused, Sarah and Lucas saw the fear and regret in his eyes, so then Sarah asked, “Andrew are you alright?” Andrew then said, “They aren’t dead.” Lucas and Sarah looked at each other in confusion and then Lucas asked, “Who aren’t?” Andrew then said, “James and Charles, they’re still alive.” Sarah then said, “Andrew, that’s ridiculous they’re dead. You killed James eight years ago and Charles six years ago.” Andrew then took a deep breath and said, “It was all a mind game, they never really died.”
