Prologue

Prologue- the loss

Art, what is art? Some say it is a way you express yourself, and some say it eases pain, an ache, and longing. Where words lack, art appears.

It is a paradise for introverts. When the lack of words weigh heavily on the soul, the pen delivers you to heaven. And that is how this story began, with a gift.

“Goodbye, love,” Destiny kissed his sunken cheeks. Like many other people, her husband fell victim to cancer. Maybe they could’ve saved him, but it was already too late. The disease had spread to parts of his body. The doctors referred him to chemotherapy, but he politely refused. He simply chose to spend his time with her than in hospital beds. They both knew it would be a fruitless effort. So, she respected his wishes.

She could see the loss of that charm that made her fall for him every day she spent, but his kind heart did not lose its glow. She saw him go from tall and handsome to a pile of bones and skin. Those grey eyes that twinkled with the light of thunder and shadows transformed into a meek reflection of pain and desolation. What could a human do? Nothing other than watching their loved one’s turn to dust. She was with him these six months, hugging, soothing, and comforting him every step of the way.

He would always tell her, “Move on, Destiny. A universe awaits you. Find a man better than me, and trust in love again. Fall in love, Des. I will always watch you,” those words turned into a puddle of tears in her eyes.

The man loved her from the depths of the ocean to the heights of the moon. How can she forget the kind of love that set her on fire?

But one night, her life changed, making her realize that you don’t have to forget to move on. All you need is to take a chance, and life will fall into its place. The memories of our loved ones are meant to be cherished, not to dwell in. Those few good hours made her realize you don’t have to bury your hopes and dreams along with the bodies of your loved ones.
