Playing cupid

I’m not going Clem, it’s a stupid football game.” Ronan complained clearly annoyed by the topic they were discussing. His best friend Clementine had been trying to convince him to go to the homecoming game and he wasn’t having it.

“It’s not just any football game, Ronan. It’s the very last homecoming game ever!” She responded while shoving her papers into her bag and standing up. “Besides, do you want to miss out on the last game?” She added searching for a specific answer.

“Yes” Ronan stated before adding, “Also it’s not the last homecoming game ever. It’s just ours.” He spoke while glaring at her. He didn’t understand why it was so important to her, it was the last homecoming game of their high-school years, sure but it never seemed important before.

“Fine. I’ll tell you the truth” Clementine spoke, making the brunette stare at her with a confused look. He was unaware that there was a purpose beyond annoying him. “You only talk to me Ro, it’s concerning. We are seniors now and I’ve been your only friend since 2nd grade.” She expressed clear concern which worried Ronan because he hadn’t realized it was a big deal.

“I just want you to be happy for once, Ronan. I want to help you find a boyfriend!” She stated as if it was suddenly supposed to make sense to him. Before Ronan could respond, Renee walked up to them and kissed Clementine on the cheek.

“Bonjour mon amour, comment vas tu?” Renee asked in French, which she only used around Clementine because of how much Clem loved how it sounded. It also had to do with the fact that she was one of the only people who understood what Renee said in French.

“He bebe, j’essaie de convaincre Ronan d’aller au match de football.” She responded waving her hand dismissively like it suddenly wasn’t important now that her girlfriend was here.

Ronan rolled his eyes and walked away from the couple. He wasn’t going to entertain the redheads’ silly fantasy of finding him a boyfriend at the seniors last homecoming game.

Two hours had gone by since the conversation Ronan had with his best friend, Which meant school was finally out for the day. Ronan packed his bag and sped walked out of the school to avoid the football players. Unfortunately luck wasn’t on his side as he ran into the star football player Altas Hayes.

“Hey, watch where you’re going okay?” Atlas said, looking down at the slightly terrified boy.

Ronan nodded, Despite the fact there was no reason to be scared of Atlas because he didn’t agree with his team’s actions and often prevented them from hurting the brunette more. He was still terrified of the boy since he was a football player.

Atlas stepped out of the way so that Ronan could walk past him and Ronan took the opportunity to jog to his car before Clementine or any of the other football players could pester him.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me.
