Prologue
Above a lush forest, almost untouched by the sins of the human world, the sun was shining brightly through the dense canopy. The birds were singing and the snakes were slithering silently, hiding in the dense vegetation.
The ground was covered in grass and thick roots, the gentle wind softly blew through the leaves and grass, giving out an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. However it didn’t last long as deep in the forest, the scenery of the quiet paradise quickly disappeared.
From a small clearing that was hidden by large vines and trees, in a far corner of the forest, screams of pain and horror resounded loudly everywhere. Inside of it, tens of corpses with expressions of disbelief and unwillingness covered the ground and their blood created a small pond, emanating an extreme stench of death and iron.
A young man, wearing a white fox mask stood in the middle of the clearing. He was surrounded by twenty men with twisted smiles on their faces. His breathing was ragged, as if he had just finished a marathon, crimson blood had soaked his once white clothes like a sponge. He lent on the hilt of a beautifully crafted sword, its blade purple like an ametyst.
They were wearing black armor that exuded a heavy aura of death. The eyes of the men were red like the recently formed pools of blood, and if one looked closely they could see a pair of sharp fangs sticking out of their mouths, hidden behind their large helmets.
They stared at the young man with fear and ruthlessness but a hint of awe was clearly visible in their eyes. They didn’t dare move, in fear of getting killed by him like their comrades, however they also knew they couldn’t afford this stalemate.
“Damn it, we have to hurry up before the city guards arrive!” Suddenly four of them gritted their teeth and jumped at the young man. His hidden eyes sparkled with a hint of viciousness and he quickly reacted by pulling out the sword. He dodged the attacks coming from the front, his long silver hair fluttering in the wind as he quickly rotated and struck backwards.
The head of one of the attackers rolled on the ground in that same instant, his expression of unwillingness frozen forever in time. The silver haired man turned towards the other three and his purple sword started glowing with an incredible light.
He swung it horizontally, instantly a ray of light was shot forward with great speed, hitting the three men right in their stomach, cutting them cleanly in two before they could even react. The sword light didn’t stop and continued forward, killing another four before finally dissipating.
The masked man stood motionless, staring at the dozen or so soldiers in front of him. He started slowly walking forward, with each step a thick killing aura slowly emanated out from within his body.
Seeing this, the rest of the men’s expressions became fearful. One of them was trembling all over, his legs were shaking rapidly and his hands were unable to keep holding the weapon he held, dropping it to the ground with a loud thud. He seemed to not be able to take it anymore, his eyes widened and he started sweating profusely. He turned to run as he screamed: “Demon, this guy is a demon!”
Seeing this, the rest of the men quickly lost their will to fight. They dropped their weapons and began running in every direction.
The young man immediately gave chase, pulling out a few needles from his bag, he threw them at the nearest men and instantly, five grunts of pain and subsequent thuds echoed in his ears.
He didn’t spare them a second glance as he ran past them. Suddenly, his speed seemed to have increased after he muttered something under his breath and instantly caught up to another two people, which he immediately killed with a swing from his sword.
The rest of them all ran away in other directions, so he decided to give chase to the one that looked to be their leader.
Although the man was already hundreds of meters ahead of him, he caught up to him in less than five seconds. When he was at a distance of only twenty meters, he jumped and leaped at the man, swinging with his sword as he descended. An illusory red aura manifested around him and his eyes seemed to glow a hint of red. Winds stirred as the expression of the man was filled with horror, and an agonizing scream of pain echoed in the calm forest, making everyone who heard it shudder in terror.
