Prologue

PROLOGUE

It took sixty years for a plague to sweep through the continents. It killed millions of people and destroyed every city run by the corporate businesses that created the disease. The people of Earth called it the Ebon Plague and it had sent everyone hundreds of years back. Currency changed, horses became the main means of transportation, and towns were miles away from each other. Due to the plague, only a few countries had survived and life had become simple.

Kenelm was a native to Ravenstonedale and had helped his neighbors overcome their troubles during these times with the help of his four advisors. The plague had entered Kenelm’s life during his early teens; he was sick and feared he would die with the rest of his family. It wasn’t until a man named Gabriel appeared to him, telling him he was an Angel of the Lord and that Kenelm was a descendent of Yeshua. Gabriel explained that Kenelm’s life mission was to become the King of Ravenstonedale and continue the line of his ancestor. Kenelm took this prophecy with graciousness and when the Ebon Plague had passed, Ravenstonedale was renamed “Enoch” and Kenelm was dubbed their King. Soon after, with the help of the angels, Kenelm had hired three men, who had worked closely with him and the angels to watch over three quarters of Enoch: the farms, the church, and the town hall.

Thirteen years after the plague, the people of Enoch in New Era England were waiting for the announcement of their King’s heir. It was September and the trees were already losing their green color, pulling off the trees by the cool breeze. When his son was born, Kenelm sent his three quarter-masters, as he called them, to inform the people with a notice that stated:

Bargara4670: This was a refreshingly different love story. Both Hadleigh and Grant were strong and likeable characters. It was satisfying to see their relationship develop. I wonder if this story will be the first in a series. I would be interested to find out if Marina is bonded.
