’In the peak of the third era, after The Clash of Blood and Destiny, and before the war of Ravens began there was a time like none had seen before.

When the eight kingdoms bathed in each other’s blood. Brother fought brother; and ancient bloodlines were all but wiped out in days. The Darkness from the great void had closed in, claiming a host, the indomitable warlord of the southern isles, Zumbarga.

From the endless sea of battle and bloodshed, three noble houses were all that remained of the original seven. The most powerful was the Alita family, bearers of the griffin’s head, lead only by a single heir Prime Queen Aria of Beryl. The Gorat family, the house of the raven, a bloodline torn in two by the rivalry between brothers Lyle and Corvus Gorat. And lastly, The Levine’s the royal family who ruled over the southern lands of Sardathel.

For he was merely a human and believed that the magical families should not have been allowed to prosper and grow. He believed magic should not exist, that it was an evil curse that must be expunged.

The mad king ordered his army to hunt down and Slay Aria and Corvus, to kill their child and anyone born with magic. Deeming them tainted and impure.

Alas, this story does not have the happy ending you would hope for. Aria and Corvus were captured and executed by the Sardathelian King, But their magic never died. There is a legend, that their child survived, that the magic-born are lying in wait for him to return to lead them to victory, they hold banners and fight in the name of the raven in hopes that one day their true King with free them and-’

Merrell Bunting: Good characters who you can care about. While this is a plot done many times, it is well thought out and presented. The main female character is admirable and fully aware of and in charge of herself. This is a good read.
