Chapter 1

I woke up to another dreary Saturday morning. I dragged myself out of bed, my messy black hair falling in my eyes. I’m not a morning person, and I don’t see the point in putting effort into my appearance. My sister always bugs me to comb my hair or put on something nicer than my usual t-shirt and sweatpants, but what’s the point? I’ve never been one for the outside world. It’s cold, unforgiving, and full of people who just want to bring you down.

I don’t have any friends, and I don’t want any. I’ve always been a cold person towards everyone, but my sister Sherry is different. She cares for me and does everything she can to make me happy.

As I picked up my controller, Sherry walked into the room.

“Hey Snow, want to go out and do something today? It’s a beautiful day outside.”

I scoffed at the idea. “No thanks, I’m good here.”

“Come on, it’ll be fun! We can go for a walk or grab some lunch,” she pleaded.

I rolled my eyes. “Why bother? It’s not like anyone wants to hang out with me anyway.”

Sherry put her hand on my shoulder. “That’s not true, Snow. I want to hang out with you. You don’t have to be so cold all the time.”

I shrugged her off. “Whatever, Sherry. Just leave me alone.”

She sighed and as she was about to leave the room, I hesitated. Maybe she was right. Maybe I should try to be a better brother. After all, she had always been there for me, even when I pushed her away.

“Wait, Sherry,” I called out. “I’ll come with you.”

Sherry turned around, a smile spreading across her face. She had an aura of kindness and happiness that seemed to radiate from her. Sherry is 2 years older than me, she was always cautious and overprotective when it came to me, but it was only because she loved me and wanted to keep me safe.

I looked at her closely, taking in the details of her appearance. She had long, wavy hair that flowed down her back, and bright, blue eyes that seemed to sparkle with joy. Her smile was infectious, and I found myself smiling back, despite my earlier hesitation.

“That’s great, Snow! I knew you’d change your mind.”

I could see the surprise in her eyes, and it made me feel guilty for the way I had been treating her. I had been so cold and distant, but she had never given up on me.

“I’m sorry, Sherry,” I said, as she handed me some clothes to wear. “For the way, I’ve been treating you. You deserve better than that.”

Sherry gave me a hug, and I felt her warmth and care envelope me. “It’s okay, Snow. I know you’re going through a tough time. But you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here for you.”

As we stepped out of our house, we saw our neighbor Mrs. Lisa on her porch, watering her plants. She noticed us and called out, “Well, look who’s finally decided to join the land of the living!”

I felt a bit embarrassed as she walked over to us, a wide grin on her face. Sherry laughed and hugged her, “Hey Mrs. Lisa, how are you doing today?”

Mrs. Lisa ruffled Sherry’s hair affectionately, “Oh, I’m doing just fine. It’s good to see you two out and about, instead of cooped up inside all day.”

I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks as she turned her attention to me. “And Snow, my dear, it’s been ages since I’ve seen you do anything other than stare at that computer screen of yours. It’s about time you got some fresh air.”

I shuffled my feet, feeling a bit awkward, “Yeah, well... Sherry convinced me to come out with her today.”

Mrs. Lisa chuckled, “Well, I’m glad she did. You could use a little bit of sunshine in your life.”

We chatted with her for a few more minutes, making small talk and sharing some laughs. It was always nice to see Mrs. Lisa, she had a way of making us feel at ease. As we said our goodbyes and continued down the street, I couldn’t help but feel a little more relaxed than I had been earlier. Maybe this outing wouldn’t be so bad after all.

As we walked down the street, I felt a sudden urge to open up to Sherry. Maybe it was the fresh air, or maybe it was just the fact that I was finally doing something other than sitting at home playing video games. Whatever it was, I found myself talking about my favorite video games and Novels.

To my surprise, Sherry was actually interested in what I had to say. She asked me questions and even shared some of her own favorites with me. It was nice to finally have someone to talk to about my hobbies, instead of being met with disinterest or judgment.

And then, out of nowhere, I asked her a weird question. “If you could have one power or skill, what would it be?”

Sherry looked surprised by the sudden question. “Where did that come from?” she asked with a laugh.

I shrugged. “Just curious, I guess. So, what would it be?”

She hesitated for a moment before answering. “I think I would choose the skill of unpenetrablede defense so that I can always protect my cold, unfriendly but precious little brother,” she said with a smile.

I felt a twinge of embarrassment at her answer, but also a warm feeling. It was nice to know that she cared about me, even if she didn’t always show it.

“And what about you?” she asked, turning the question back to me.

I thought for a moment before answering. “I would choose the power of limitless growth. So that I can keep improving myself and never stop growing.”

Sherry grinned. “I like that. Always striving to be better, huh?”

“let’s go eat something,” I said hiding my embarrassment

“Oh, I know a great restaurant that serves amazing food!” she exclaimed.

We decided to go there and as we walked to the restaurant, Sherry’s phone rang, and she answered it with a bright smile. It was her boyfriend, Lious, who wanted to meet up nearby. Sherry asked me if her boyfriend can join, I hesitated a bit but eventually agreed.

When we arrived, Lious was already waiting for us outside the restaurant, and he greeted Sherry with a big hug. I felt a bit awkward watching them, but I smiled and greeted Lious.

Lious turned to me and said, “You must be Snow, Sherry’s little brother. She’s told me so much about you.”

I blushed and nervously laughed. “I hope it’s all good things,” I replied.

Lious grinned. “Of course! She talks about you all the time. She’s so proud of you.”

Sherry chimed in, “Yeah, Snow’s really smart and talented. He’s top of his class in school!”

(Top my ass I thought)

Lious turned to me again. “Wow, you’re really impressive, Snow! I’m glad I get to finally meet you.”

I felt a bit more at ease with Lious’s friendly demeanor. “Thanks, Lious. It’s nice to meet you too.”

We went inside the restaurant and ordered our food. As we ate, we chatted and laughed, and I found myself enjoying the company more than I expected. It was nice to see Sherry so happy and carefree around Lious.

After Lunch, we walked back home together. As we said goodbye, Lious hugged both Sherry and me again, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit envious of their closeness. But at the same time, I was happy for my sister and grateful for the chance to get to know Lious better.

We said goodbye to Lious again and started walking home. As we walked, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for my sister’s support. “I had a great time with you today, Sherry,” I said, smiling.

“Me too,” she replied, putting her arm around my shoulder.

Suddenly, I heard a loud scream. “Get out of the way! The brakes have failed!” a voice yelled.

I turned around and saw a truck hurtling towards us at an incredible speed. I froze for a moment, unsure of what to do, but then I remembered Sherry was with me. Without thinking, I pushed her out of the way and shouted her name.

“Sherry, move!”

I felt the truck’s impact before I even saw it. It hit me with incredible force and I was sent flying through the air. I hit the ground hard and pain shot through my body. I groaned, struggling to get up, but my limbs wouldn’t respond.

Sherry was screaming my name, her voice filled with panic. “Snow, Oh my god, Snow!”

I tried to speak, but my throat felt like it was on fire. I could feel blood trickling down my face, and my head was throbbing with pain.

“Someone call an ambulance!” Sherry yelled, tears streaming down her face.

I saw Lious running towards me, his face filled with worry and fear. Sherry was crying, holding me tightly as I struggled to speak. “I’m sorry, Sherry,” I managed to say. “I’m sorry for not being a kinder brother. Sorry for always being a burden.”

“Don’t speak, Snow,” Sherry sobbed. “The ambulance is coming. You’ll be fine.”

Lious was now by my side, his eyes red with tears. “Don’t give up, Snow,” he pleaded. “The ambulance is on its way.”

“I’m sorry for always being cold towards you, Sherry,” I said, my voice weak. I could feel myself slipping away, the world becoming dark and distant.

Suddenly, I heard a strange voice, and my mind reeled. “What’s happening?” I thought, panicked. “Am I really dying?”

The voice spoke again, saying something about preparing a suitable body for migration. “No, please,” I thought. “This can’t be happening.”

But Sherry was still holding onto me, refusing to accept the reality of the situation. “Please don’t leave me alone, Snow,” she cried.

“I wish I had spent more time with you, Sherry,” I said, my voice wavering. “Today was the best day of my life. Thank you.”

The strange voice spoke again, denying transportation since both parties were conscious. “What does that mean?” I wondered, confused.

And then the voice confirmed something, about a suitable body being found and initiating a great merger. With that, everything went dark, and I blacked out.
