Uraraka Ochako x Shinsou Hitoshi

Cat

(Aged up AU, Pro-heroes)

“During a tragic event, the pro-hero, Amnesia (also known as Shinsou Hitoshi), along with many other civilians, has disappeared. We believe the suspects’ quirk must have something to do with it, but as we do not have any information of the suspect, we do not know what has happened…” a news reporter said over a TV. Oddly enough, a cat was watching it.

“Well, this isn’t the best way to go out,” Shinsou Hitoshi (the cat), thought. “I need to get somewhere safe; it looks like it’s about to storm.” Shinsou was kicked in the stomach suddenly.

“Out of the way, ya damn cat!” someone said. Shinsou, who was shocked, hissed and ran into an alleyway. He padded his way to another street.

“Think, think, think… Come on, there has to be someplace I can go and figure this all out…” Shinsou thought, his eyes darting back and forth, seeing if any of his favorite shops were around. Alas, they were not. Then it hit him. He lived with the hero Uravity! She would understand and be able to help him fix this! He climbed up onto a roof as it started to drizzle. He needed to find shelter fast or he’d be soaked to the bone.

When he found his apartment door he was freezing and couldn’t see in the window, his eyes blurring as he collapsed on the balcony, rain pattering down.

An auburn-haired girl stood in front of the sink, washing dishes, and washing them multiple times. “I can’t believe they got Shinsou-kun like that!” She was interrupted when she heard a thump outside of the door. “Hello?” She waited for a moment, but when no response came, she peeked out the door and saw a tabby laying on the ground, soaked to the bone and breathing heavily. “Oh God!” She grabbed the cat and brought it in hurriedly, swaddling it in a towel fresh out of dryer.

“Poor baby… I wonder how long you’ve been in the rain,” she said, setting the cat on the couch. The cat’s eyes started slowly opening. It pawed at Uraraka’s face softly. “Oh, hi, kitty. You’re a bit wet, let’s get you dried off and when the rain stops, we can get you back onto the street if you’d like.”

“Uraraka-san… Uraraka-san it’s me Shinsou…” Shinsou said weakly, but it just came out as meows.

“Are you hungry? I have some tuna—” Uraraka began, getting up and searching through a cabinet. “Ugh—Hey, Shinsou-kun?” Uraraka looked over her shoulder and then sighed. “Right, not here.” Shinsou’s head popped up. His heart hurt as he saw the disappointment on Uraraka’s face. She made herself float and grabbed some tuna on the top shelf and put it in a small bowl after making herself have gravity again. “Here you go, kitty.”

Shinsou looked at Uraraka and then at the bowl. The smell was so inviting. After some hesitation, Shinsou sniffed the tuna before licking it. “You know what, Uraraka-san—” Shinsou took a bite. “—I should change back soon—” Another bite. “—and I can’t wait to tell you how amazing you are—We should hang out more often—Besides our hero work—You know—I’m not used to being this compelled to eat—You deserve an Oscar, you know that?”

“Oh, you’re a talkative little one, aren’t you? Shinsou-kun would’ve loved you,” Uraraka said, clearing the dish and then picking Shinsou up and placing her on her lap. She stroked Shinsou’s fur gently and lovingly. “You know, Shinsou has somehow always made me feel like a hero. Even though I don’t fight people, he knows what that feels like. He’s a great hero, even though UA didn’t see him as one in the beginning.”

Shinsou looked up at Uraraka and tilted his head in thoughtfulness. He never knew Uraraka saw him like that. To him, she was a hero that saved everyone. She did rescue missions the most. Uraraka was the famed Uravity! Friends with the number 1 hero! She saw him… as a great hero?

“I’m not much. A little on the chubby size, I’m not fun to look at,” Uraraka said with a laugh, pinching her cheek and wiggling it. “Shinsou has amazing taste in clothes and looks great too. I like his hair. It’s so fluffy!”

Shinsou now felt downright annoyed. She’s talking as if she isn’t great! He sat up and stood on his hind legs, grabbing her face with his paws, and squishing the face and meowing. “Uraraka-san, you are a beautiful idiot.”

Uraraka giggles. “At least someone likes my chub!” Uraraka picked Shinsou up. “Looks like the rain has stopped, let’s get you back outside.” She brought Shinsou to the door and opened the door, in which Shinsou promptly jumped out of Uraraka’s arms, and back in the apartment. “I can’t keep you, silly! I live in an apartment, which means if I have a pet, the rent goes up. Without Shinsou-kun, I’m dead meat when it comes to money!”

Why all the sudden was Uraraka like this? She had plenty of money to survive! Shinsou knew that. So in response, he padded to the counter, hopped up, and started shuffling through papers until he found a check addressed to Uraraka. It was a sufficient amount of money, and much more than enough to pay for the apartment, himself, and everything to survive. Shinsou grabbed the check in his mouth very gently and showed it to Uraraka.

“You’re so smart, kitty,” Uraraka said, patting Shinsou on the head. “I guess this should cover a month. After that, I have to send you on your way.”

“Good,” Shinsou thought, dropping the check in Uraraka’s hand.

It had been nearly a month since the disappearance of Amnesia and many other people, though there had been a lot more cats roaming around the streets lately. Uraraka almost never went anywhere without Shinsou, whom she had lovingly named Mio-chan. Shinsou liked being a cat, but he wanted to be able to comfort Uraraka more than he could as a cat. Uraraka was desperately looking for him and the civilians who had “disappeared” but they were no where to be found, which Uraraka was being really hard on herself about.

“I don’t understand, Mio-chan,” Uraraka said, rummaging through her closet, looking for pajamas. “Shinsou would’ve found a way out by now! Someone should have found them…” In the middle of looking for her pajamas, Uraraka fell to her knees in tears.

Shinsou bounded to her, pawing her hands away from her face. He nuzzled her nose, pushing his cheek into her cheek as if to say, “No crying.”

Uraraka let out a watery laugh. “I’m sorry, Mio-chan. I just can’t take it anymore… I’ve been the problem for a long time… You know my parents could barely pay to raise me… they had to sacrifice money to help themselves and ended up paying for me instead. I was a problem maker in high school, all of my friends were, but whenever I tried to stop it I would only make it worse… I’ve only been in love once before and now I feel it again and I can’t even find him!”

This intrigued Shinsou. Had Uraraka been in love with one of the civilians that disappeared with the villain’s attack? Or… was it him? Shinsou shook the thought from his head. Impossible. He lived up to nothing that she had shown with her previous love, Midoriya Izuku. He could never be as good as him.

Uraraka grabbed Shinsou and laid down on her bed and put her face into his stomach. “I’ll tell him when he comes back. It’ll happen… Because he will come back…”

When Uraraka woke up, Shinsou had pulled out her hero costume and was sitting on it. He looked at her with his big blue eyes.

“Do you know something I don’t, Mio-chan?” Uraraka said, picking up her costume. Shinsou nodded and brought her to the door. “Ok. You show me what you think I need to be shown.”

In a few minutes, she was in her costume and following Shinsou, until they reached an ally where the villain was that turned him into a cat. “Oh-ho! It’s my next victim, Uravity!”

“You’re the one who made the people go missing!” Uraraka cried, tears reaching her eyes.

“Yes, I am~” the villain said, carrying out their voice. “Now ’tis your time…” Uraraka wasn’t fast enough to dodge. A big light flashed, and Uraraka thought it was over for her, that is, until she saw Shinsou standing in front of her (as a human). Shinsou trapped the villain in his scarf.

“I have a question for you,” Shinsou said.

“Ask away, hero~”

“Fix this problem we have.” A bright light flashed over the city and cats were changing to people. Cops arrived on the scene shortly after, taking the villain away.

Uraraka was relatively calm the whole time reporters were questioning them, but when Shinsou and Uraraka got to their apartment, Uraraka broke down in tears. “Shinsou-kun… I can’t believe you were with me the entire time!” Uraraka hugged him and barely said, “I love you, Shinsou-kun…”
