The Unsolved Case

It’s October 2019, An American Lawyer, Nataliana Waxango is sleeping in her office when she receives a call from someone. “Huh? W-Who’s calling?” She says drowsily and wakes up and picks it up.

“It’s Yuzan Iffito, I need your help.” Said the person on the other side of the call, “Yuzan Iffito? Who’s that?” Asked Nataliana. “The Inmate Yuzan Iffito, The one who was put in jail because of the Unsolved Case.” Said The Inmate, “Unsolved Case? Isn’t your case solved?” Asked Nataliana.

“They think it’s solved, But it’s not.” Said the Inmate in a serious tone, “Nice try fooling me, Buddy. All the Inmates say that.” Said Nataliana, drowsily.

“Wait! I’ll pay you 100k$ to look into my crime.” Said the Inmate. “100k$?! BET! I’ll solve it. I’ll meet you in jail later!” Nataliana Replied in excitement.

A while passed and Nataliana rushed to the prison to meet Yuzan Iffito. There, She talked to a police officer to ask if she could speak to Yuzan Iffito. “Yuzan Iffito? No one’s met him in years, Well I suppose you could talk to him. But, What’s your relation with him?” Asked the Police Officer. “I’m a Lawyer.” Said Nataliana.

After about 10 minutes of waiting, Nataliana got a chance to speak to Yuzan Iffito.

“Hey, I’m Nataliana Waxango. You wanted my help right? So, Why did you do all this?” Nataliana asked.

“Because... It’s my fault...” said Yuzan Iffito, looking down at his feet.

“What’s your fault?” Asked Nataliana.

“You see...” Yuzan Iffito started talking as he looked up, “I killed a man. He was an old friend of mine, but I didn’t know that he had done some terrible crimes. And so, when he told me... I tried to make him confess. That’s how I ended up killing him. However, I didn’t tell anyone about it. I wanted to keep it secret. So, I left my room without telling the guards or anything like that and went to the forest nearby my village. I thought that no one would find out because there were many people living around the area.”

Nataliana was shocked by what Yuzan said. She started feeling sorry for him.

“Little did I know, I was a suspect of a crime I didn’t commit. My friend was in a group, he wasn’t alone. A member of his group hacked all recordings of my friend committing crimes and he made all devices show my face instead of my friend’s face. And in 2017, I was arrested.” Yuzan said.

“So, does that mean you’re innocent?” Nataliana asked.

“No... I don’t think so.” Yuzan said sadly.

“Why not?” Nataliana asked.

“I never confessed to what I did, it’s my friend’s fault. If only I had just told them everything... Maybe then they wouldn’t have arrested me.” Yuzan replied.

“But why would you do something that stupid?” Nataliana asked.

“I knew he was a bad guy... I didn’t tell anyone about the things he did since he threatened me and my family. But I didn’t know of the other grave crimes.” Replied Yuzan

“Well, I think you’re innocent.” Nataliana said.

“Really? Then what should I do to prove myself? I can’t go back to my home because I’ll be arrested again. Everyone thinks that I’m guilty.” Said Yuzan.

Nataliana thought for a while and finally said, “Don’t worry, I’ll help you prove your innocence.”

“Thank you very much!” Yuzan said happily.

After that, Nataliana started to investigate his case. As a lawyer, she has plenty of resources and connections. So, she used her connections to visit the scene of the crime.

The place where it happened was a small town. She visited the place with the other authorities, took pictures of the crime scene and collected evidence. After visiting the crime scene, Nataliana went to the prison to talk to Yuzan.

She told him that she will do everything in her power to prove his innocence, and she promised to solve the case.

“Oh, thank you!” Yuzan said happily.

Nataliana then asked Yuzan to describe the crime scene and what happened before the crime.

He told her all of that while Nataliana wrote everything down in her notebook. After a while, Nataliana finally found a clue.

One of the witnesses claimed that Yuzan had been the culprit, and that the crime scene was staged.

“Hmm, It seems like your witness is lying.” Nataliana said. “Then who are you suspecting?” Yuzan asked.

“I can’t really tell without more evidences.” Nataliana answered. “Is there anything else I can do?” Yuzan asked.

“Yes, Do you have any enemies?” Nataliana asked.

“I don’t think so.” Yuzan said.

“That’s strange. I didn’t think you’d have any enemies.” Nataliana said.

“I might have, though.” Yuzan said.

“What do you mean?” Nataliana asked.

“I killed my friend, so maybe his group might have a grudge against me.” Yuzan replied.

“That’s true.” Nataliana said.

“Do you think they’ll kill me?” Yuzan asked.

“Maybe, If they get angry enough.” Nataliana replied.

“Wow... I’ve never thought about something like that.” Yuzan said.

“Well, you shouldn’t worry. I’m going to investigate this crime thoroughly, and I’ll find everyone involved.” Nataliana said.

“Okay.” Yuzan said.

“We’ll meet again soon, Yuzan.” Nataliana said.

“Alright.” Yuzan said.

After that, Nataliana went back to her office and started to investigate the crime. She investigated the crime scene once again, and she discovered some clues.

One of the witnesses claimed that Yuzan had been the culprit, and another one claims that the crime scene was staged. Nataliana was exhausted and decided to head on over to her place. She began watching TV for a while before finally sleeping.
