The Invitation
The paranormal had always captivated Maya. She had read books about ghosts, spirits, and otherworldly beings since she was a young child. She therefore couldn’t resist the impulse to use the antique Ouija board she found in the attic of her new residence.
To test the board, she invited Sarah, Josh, and Tyler who were her pals. With their fingers on the planchette, they sat in a circle around it and began to ask questions.
Maya enquired, “Is anyone there?”
The planchette swung to “YES.”
Sarah questioned, “Who are you?”
The planchette displayed the letters “J-O-H-N.”
Thinking that only one of them was moving the planchette, the group laughed. However, as they asked additional questions, the board spelt out increasingly ominous answers.
“K-I-L-L-E-R.”
The candles began to flicker, and the room suddenly became cold. Uneasy, they exchanged glances with each other.
“What in the hell?” stated Tyler.
The planchette would not move when they attempted to end the session. In its place, it read “S-T-A-Y.”
Strange occurrences began taking place in the flat as they played on. Things moved on their own, doors opened and closed on their own. Maya started to see terrible visions of a guy killing people while his face was hidden by shadows.
The party didn’t realise they had unlocked a perilous portal into the afterlife until it was too late. The murderer’s ghost had entered their reality, and he wasn’t planning on leaving any time soon.
The pals were horrified and shaken as the night came to an end. They were aware that playing with the Ouija board had been a major error and that they were now vulnerable to a lethal ghost.
