Lyndsey

So she woke up.

Part of me said great. Part of me said fuck.

Of course she made a miraculous recovery the day before the election. She’s always been lucky. And if this was a month ago, I would’ve stuck to the plan.

Not now.

I wanted to win without her.

I wanted to break her. The same way she broke my heart.

Sorry.

I thought I could say that with a straight face. It’s pretty obvious by now that I don’t have a heart…

Nora

Yeah, I woke up.

I don’t know how. One second I was saying goodbye to Sidney and Nancy and then I was gone. I can’t explain it. The science is Ginny’s thing. You should ask her. Anyway.

The first thing I saw when I woke up was a giant poster decorated with sparkles and markers by all the girls on the dance team and the cheer squad.

Hope to see you soon, baby girl!

Come back to us, dancing queen! We need you for the finals!

A nurse came in my room then and checked my pulse and my temperature. She looked at the poster and smiled like it meant something. It was just a stupid poster. She handed me a cup of ice chips.

“Your parents are so excited to have you back. I love giving good news. They’ll be here soon.”

“Do you have a phone?” I whispered as I sucked on an ice chip.

“I do, sweetie. Who would you like me to call?”

“Google something for me.”

She took out her phone. “That I can do…”

“Sid Vicious.”

She put in his name and her face got sad. “Why would you want to look him up, honey? Hey, why are you crying?”

Johnny told me it would be hard to forgive myself…

Ginny

I decided he wasn’t Paul the fibber anymore. Because he saved me, I would give him back his name. And he was good enough to drive me home from the hospital.

It was the least I could do.

We sat in the driveway for a while.

“How will your parents take you being gone for days?”

“They don’t talk to me anymore. I think I intimidate them.”

“Yeah, I get that…you want to get some chicken and waffles?”

I punched his arm. “That’s funny.”

“I try.”

“Will I get anymore visits from your friends?”

“Maybe. Probably.”

“What should I do?”

“Do what you did last time. Mock them to death…”

He let me hug him and I got out of the SUV.

No, never saw him again after that.

I just went inside, kissed my smiling idiot parents and went upstairs. And that’s when I found my stupid ass brother passed out under my bed…

Harrison

Did my entire time travel coma under Ginny’s bed.

No one checked on her or me. Not once. Thanks for the concern, mom and dad. Yeah, leave that in. They need some tough love.

Anyway.

When I opened my eyes, Ginny was hugging me, punching me and calling me a stupid dick all at the same time.

Mixed messages, you know?

I screamed at the crazy bitch to stop hitting me. She accused me of intellectual property theft and invasion of privacy.

I told her to bite her own ass. Somehow that calmed her down.

She helped me to a chair.

“What year did you land in?”

“1978. And I just want to say, fuck the seventies.”

“What happened?”

“It was like if all the Uber drivers today were serial killers.”

“Isn’t that true?”

“Fuck if I know. Hey, you’re not gonna believe who I ran into.”

“Nora?”

“Yeah, how did you know?”

“That’s the only thing we have in common, which makes it the only reason you could possibly make that statement.”

“Okay, smart girl, can you guess who she was hanging with?”

“No clue.”

“She was rolling with the Sex Pistols.”

“Who are the Sex Pistols?”

Yeah, she said that to me. My sister, the genius, doesn’t know everything. Only everything that matters, which makes me feel sorry for her.
