Chapter 1

The wind howled through the trees, scattering dead leaves across the forest floor. In the distance, a wolf's mournful howl echoed through the night.

"Did you hear that?" Emily asked, her eyes darting nervously around the clearing. "It sounded so close."

"Yeah, I heard it too," replied her boyfriend, Alex. He put his arm around her, trying to calm her nerves. "It's probably just a coyote or something. We're safe in the tent."

Emily huddled closer to him, grateful for his warmth. But the howl had stirred something primal within her, a sense of danger she couldn't shake.

As they settled back into their sleeping bags, Emily couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. Every rustle of leaves, every snap of a twig made her heart race.

"Alex, I don't like this," she whispered. "Let's go home."

"We're fine, Em. Trust me," Alex said, his voice laced with confidence. "Nothing's going to happen. Just relax and get some sleep."

But as the night wore on, Emily's anxiety only grew. The howls grew louder and more frequent, and she could hear something moving around the tent.

"Alex, wake up!" Emily hissed, shaking his shoulder. "I hear something outside."

Alex sat up, his eyes bleary with sleep. "What is it?"

"I don't know," Emily said, fear creeping into her voice. "Just listen."

They sat in silence for a few moments, listening intently. Suddenly, a loud snarl ripped through the air, followed by the sound of tearing fabric.

"Get out of here, now!" Alex shouted, shoving Emily toward the tent's opening. "I'll hold it off."

Emily stumbled out of the tent and into the darkness, heart racing. She could hear Alex grappling with something inside the tent, snarls and growls punctuated by the sound of tearing flesh.

She ran blindly through the trees, her heart pounding in her ears. She didn't know where she was going, only that she needed to get as far away from that clearing as possible.

As she ran, she realized that the howls she had heard earlier weren't just coyotes or wolves. They were something else entirely.

Something that could only be described as a pack of werewolves.
