Elders Assist

Alone in the dark, she wandered carefully, “I’m tired but nowhere close to home.” she said as she searched for shelter. But where is home? As far as the eyes can see, everything surrounding her was pitch black.

Suddenly a demon appeared, she couldn’t see it because everywhere was dark, but she could hear it. She quickly did a turning back kick, being sure to direct fire into her foot. This allowed her to briefly shine light from the flame at this demon to get a good look at what she was working with.

Not good. The demon was massive, with all sorts of disgusting qualities. Putting some distance between her and the creature, she ran and equipped her sword. A loud shriek followed her movements. Mumbling curses, she mustered up the courage to fight for her life, she had to, or else she would be swallowed up by the darkness never again to see the light.

Strengthening her faith, she remembered that she needed to keep eyes on this demon, so she stopped running, turned, took a deep breath, and exhaled a huge line of fire at the creature. Then she leapt as high as she could and slashed at the demon with her sword. She could tell she had did some damage because the demon bellowed and shrieked.

Too focused on the results of her attack, she landed badly, and she had no time to check on herself as she saw the creature starting to recover while still aflame.

“Shit.” she mumbled.

Then the cavalry showed up.

Three winged beings flew above her, dimly lit by the flames still engulfing the demon. One of the beings swooped down from the sky to slash the creature again with a sword seemingly made of light. Another, used magic to send vines and more flames at the creature, holding it in place and burning it more. The third, used leather spikes to pierce the demon from below. The monster shrieked again and again, defenseless against these attacks. After the creature died, and decayed, the three approached her, not a scratch on them.

They better acquaint themselves with her by telling her their names.

“Halo.” said the one with the sword made of light, with a slight mean mug. She noticed that Halo had black to white ombre wings, big horns similar to a ram, and an actual halo but several pieces of it were missing.

“Gaia.” said the one with the magic, with a rather confident tone. Gaia has antlers, wings made from thick branches and leaves, and eyes that were a mix of brown and green.

Lastly, “Ona.” said the one that had the leather spike attack. Ona had leathery sharp wings, talons that put Freddy Kruger and Edward Scissorhands to shame, and horns that curved outward in the middle and curved again inward near the top.

Fascinating beings, she thought to herself.

Suddenly, the pitch black scenery was disturbed by a crack appearing, white light seeping through, making things brighter.

She noticed, with things being a bit brighter, that the three beings that helped her looked like her in a way. She wasn’t entirely sure why, but she looked around again, and realized that she wasn’t exactly on earth. Her environment just an empty void, inside her subconscious, meaning this land wasn’t physical in any way.

She thought hard, Maybe the astral plane?

She looked around for them again, to ask questions, and suddenly they were gone.
