Chapter 1

What am I? I am everything. I have experienced countless lifetimes. I have been a starving peasant. I have spent long years toiling in the mud and chewing on gristle. And I have been a great king, drinking the finest wine and dining at banquets of the most magnificent opulence. I have walked in the forbidden garden, felt the cold mist on my face, the soft moss beneath my feet, tasted the sweet nectar of the forever fruit trickling down my throat. I have been an elegant lover. I have indulged in exquisite orgies of absolute hedonism. I have felt every imaginable pleasure of the flesh. And I have been wrathful. I have mutilated and beheaded, I have waged war. I have burned entire civilizations and salted the earth that they may never again prosper. I have walked on other worlds. I have met beings that defy comprehension. I have learned from philosophers who knew things that would drive any other man to insanity. And I grew. I became something more then a man. I ascended until all space and time in the universe was a part of me, and then I ascended yet more. I rose and I rose, and I stared into the face of god as we swapped places. I am everything. Everything is me. I have seen the end of time, and I have reached beyond it.

I am deeply confused. I perceive shapes and colours as if I am just existing for the first time. Slowly, to my jumbled memory, returns a loose semblance of structure. I am just a guy. My name is Dave. I feel a vertigo inducing shift in perspective as my dream slips away. Leaving me with the vague impression of having experienced unimaginable things. I weep.
