They came thinking they had a right to kill - Author

The world is such that the magnitude of beauty touches every corner of the globe. However, the charm and genuine friendliness of the people enhanced the beauty of the nation. In short, the beauty of a nation lies in the hands of its people.

Who is Mrs. Robinson to the world? A writer who survived the worst of discrimination and death threats to tell her side of the story.

And so, Mrs. Robinson’s saga begins as she finds ways to stay alive in a land touched by the beauty of a landscape, and not much else.

The Stalking Death

What were your days like, Mrs. Robinson?

When people waylaid you,

To be killed,

Stalked and sabotaged,

For the highest office in the land.

In an about turn, Mrs. Robinson

Those who came to kill you,

Met with the worse kind of torture,

The death marked them instead.

The Story

William’s mother was stalked and hunted down by killers relentlessly. In the first instance, it was because she was a writer. Secondly, she was unlike any writers out there - she prayed fervently and was devoted to her sacred vows, and that provoked incredulous scrutiny of her personable self.

In the country where she was born, she worked tirelessly to become a prolific writer, to be on par with great writers she admired. It is a calling for me, she often told her family and friends.

However, the opposite happened. A deceit was planned against her by the people and the ruling imposter government that administered her country. The man who led the country for years rose in the ranks by deceiving the people of his origin and backstory.

Many knew of the leader’s deceitful entity and his collaborated rise in a country that needed a strong and trusting leader, but they believed those reasons to be small and inconsequential to building a nation. And so, he led as he wished and they followed his prejudiced game of rule.

He and his generals didn’t like the way she wrote her books. Some of her writing reminded them of words from the scriptures. So the only way to stop her from writing that way and gaining due recognition was to kill her off in any possible manner.

However, what she wrote came from a higher hand. She wrote about beauty, love, life, and nature. All of which made the world what it is. She wrote as she understood, her words reflected the words of the man on the streets.

They tried and tried to kill me and I knew not who they were.

People love to be led. It took the pressure of handling responsibilities off their hands. Their lackadaisical attitude came with grave consequences when years later, they understood the gravity of having to give up the freedom to choose wisely, and the right to speak up against the injustices done to their homeland. They lost that right somewhere along the way when money lured them through greed and conceit.

Would a nation be prideful if the rot begins at the top? In the end, it is a nation as a whole that suffers the sin of voting for an unjust man and his corrupt practices.

William learned of his mother’s predicament from a young boy and watched out for her. Some days he would skim through her books and think of how she was a just and upright woman. So misunderstood she was by the rest of the world. She was an excellent mother, wife, writer, and friend. Most of all, she was beautiful in all her ways.

As she suffered dire consequences under the hands of the taskmasters, William’s mother journaled, An imposter was the head of this government and he ruled with partisanship. His voice lent credence to deceit, malpractice, and injustice. He was tyrannical and dictatorial. People were afraid he would court martial and kill them off on the sly if they dared speak out about his injustices against the marginalized population of the country. He attained massive amounts of riches, instead of working for peace and stability for the citizens in the land. He would one day regret it, maybe on his deathbed.

While some thought her beautiful, countless others dared not speak about her apparent beauty or astounding talent for her craft. Her books bore wisdom, and she wrote much about the morals of humanity.

William, himself a target, went through harrowing experiences from a young age which he couldn’t account for. They were bizarre and incredulous. No one in their right mind would believe his family’s story.

He was at wit’s end in escaping the cruel intentions that besieged his mother and the rest of his family members.

He kept abreast of his mother’s thoughts and feelings by reading what she wrote down in her journal. That kept him informed about all the ways she was persecuted.

Another time, in her journal she wrote, “When they couldn’t get to me, they came for my family.”

They drained their finances through various deceitful means. Her family was cheated in every way possible. But, there was nothing they could do when the powers that be had dominion over their lives.

The dirty tactics of the killers stopped her family from living life to the full or finding the freedom to do the things that they wanted. They were constricted by the intense suffering they were subjected to.

But then, nothing could stop her and her family from carrying on with what they had to do to survive, in spite of it all.

More than anything, she only had her eyes on freedom and would do anything to achieve that. Her priorities were to save her family from the hands of a wicked regime and its people.

“If there is no freedom, it doesn’t matter if we have no money. People will come and take our money away and be a threat to us! Better freedom than riches which cannot guarantee a safe life.”
