Chapter 1 - The beginning

Log 74618-A: The Origin of Chaos

Long Ago, Humanity was prospering, Conquering most of the galaxy with countless inventions. Life could not be easier. But then, they made a grave mistake. They tried to play God and failed miserably. What did they do? They tried to mix DNA of animals with Humans. They succeeded after multiple failed attempts. At least they thought they did. What they had created was an abomination. A child with the Arms and Legs of a reptile. They did countless experiments on the child, causing it to start to hate the entire species. A hate that would stay for generations. When one of the scientists went to run more tests on the child, The child bit him and released his genes into the scientist. The genes mutated the scientist into another of these reptile-human species, termed as biowarts. These biowarts, spread like rapid fire and as a last-ditch effort, Humanity quarantined the planet and restricted access.

Peace was achieved, but not for long. They had thought that since there were no females among the Biowarts, they would not be able to reproduce. But they had forgotten one key element that allowed reproduction. Some reptiles have the ability to change their gender for reproduction. The first child along with a few others did that and started to reproduce. By the time Humanity had conquered a galaxy, Biowarts entered the space age with the help of the information Humanity left behind. They started fighting for control over planets, waging wars wherever they went. Since they had the regenerative capabilities of Reptiles, the humans always suffered a lot of causalities. But they had an Ace up their sleeve, the Agents of Chaos.

The Agents of Chaos, or so they were called, were a team of 3 kids who were created in a lab and were basically superhumans. Named with pronunciation in Latin of the order they were born, they were Unus, Tribus, and Quattuor. They completed high school at the age of 12. Tribus, especially had a knack for inventing things. He had made “Nanites” at the age of 8 which were Machines that operated at the Nano-Molecular scale and were capable of manipulating Natural elements.

Nanites, when injected inside humans, could repair any injury and even grant immortality. But they had one drawback, they required a lot of power. So instead of injecting them into every human, they were only given to the Agents of Chaos. Although having a lot of potential, Power was not the original goal.

Log 74618-B: Creation of Nanites:

Originally, there were 4 Agents of Chaos. They were Unus, Duo, Tribus and Quattuor. Duo was an anomaly as she was supposed to be Male, but something had gone wrong with the Machine when she was born. When they were 7, Duo had been diagnosed with a uncurable disease unique to her. The doctors had predicted that She would have a Year to live at most. Tribus, not wanting to lose his sister, tried to find a cure for the disease through experimentation and arrived at the breakthrough that her cells were corrupted. If the cells were removed and replaced with artificial ones long enough for the original ones to regenerate. He created the Nanites to act as the placeholders, but he was too late. In her deathbed, Duo asked Tribus “You…needed an AI…to act…as the control panel…for those machines…right? Use…my mind…for that…”.

That was her last wish before succumbing to the disease. Tribus who was still shook by her death, decided to keep her death wish and inserted her consciousness to the nanites. This gave birth to AVA. Then he started Experimenting with Nanites. He found out that if made small enough, nanites could manipulate molecules. They could make them crash together to form fire, slow them down to cool them, make them move in a particular direction to form wind, etc. Excited by this discovery, he asked Quattuor for help. Tribus prepared to inject the nanites into his arm, exited to try out the powers. He inserts a needle connected to a cylinder full of nanites. He presses a button on the computer and presses start. The nanites start to enter his arm and he screams in pain. Quattuor looks at him and sees his arm slowly being destroyed by the nanites. He quickly shuts it off, but Tribus’s arm is destroyed as it crumbles to powder. Tribus faints from the pain of having his arm destroyed and finds himself in a hospital. His arm was gone, and his shoulder was wrapped in bandages. He turns his head and sees some flowers and cards wishing him to get well soon. He thinks to himself, that Nanites are a lost cause, and he should give up. But he still wants to make them succeed. He promised Duo to do that. After a few days, he is discharged and is given a prosthetic arm as a gift. He continues to work on Nanites over countless months, while still getting Combat training. Their purpose was to serve as soldiers in the War. In his free time, he worked on Nanites. He realized that if injected directly without limiting their output, it would damage the body unless it was trained and hardened. He created a user interface for the nanites that limited the power output to how much the body could handle. If linked with the nerves, he could use them through his mind too. He shared this power with his brothers and showed them how they could use it. He gave them superpowers.

Years passed and they turned 16. The agents of Chaos were supposed to learn combat until the Age of 18 but completed it at 16. Tribus had been awarded many prizes as a genius. He even discovered immortality, by coding nanites to replicate DNA, But restricted it to his brothers. Nanites could heal uncurable diseases too as long as they had a sample of the DNA of the patient. They could build skyscrapers in seconds, and be used to make all tech smaller, and cheaper. They were a revolutionary invention. Now, all they needed to do was test it in combat.

The Agents were sent on their first mission, to eradicate a settlement of biowarts that were blocking trade on a important miner planet. Upon reaching the planet, they released their powers, wiping out the settlement single handedly. But something wasn’t right, Quattuor’s nanites were fluctuating after the battle. When Tribus inspected Him, He realized that the biowarts’ blood had entered his body and was causing a reaction with nanites. When using nanites, Circuit board patterns would appear as a sign of usage. The color of the pattern showed the control. Green meant incomplete control, Blue meant complete control and Red meant Lost control. Quattuor’s patterns were flickering between blue and Red. He was losing control. Scared by this Tribus deactivated his nanites so that they could recalibrate. His body fell limp and he collapsed to the ground. Tribus rushed over to his body and checked for the pulse. To his horror, there was none. The Nanites wouldn’t activate. Quattuor was gone. Tribus, traumatized by this spent the next 20 years doing extensive research to try and figure out the reason but never succeeded. They spent the next thousand years or so fighting biowarts and making their name as the strongest human soldiers. But after years of fighting, they were Fed up with it, they had discovered that there was a hierarchy to them. They went to the home planet of the biowarts to try and establish a peace treaty with them.
