At midnight Liya woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. Groggily she reached for her nightstand and took her phone.

"Hello, who's this? " she asked as the caller id was unknown to her.

Eriee voice was heard from the other side accompanied by heavy breathing. Thinking that it was a wrong number she turned off her phone and went back to sleep. She tossed and turned the whole night as she was not able to sleep anymore.

Morning arrived welcoming her with the chirping of birds and pattering of rain. The sound of dishes clinking was heard from downstairs. Rubbing her eyes Liya got up and went to the bathroom.

Looking at herself in the mirror she scrunched up her nose at the sight of her disheveled messy hair. Running a comb through her hair she tidied it.

Putting a pea size amount of paste on her brush, she started brushing her teeth. After making sure it was sparkly white she damped her face with water.

All done ,she thought as she walked towards her walk-in closet. Opening the closet doors she began searching for her favorite black turtleneck top. Putting it on and a black pleated skirt she skipped downstairs humming 'falling ' by Trevor Daniel.

"Oh, someone's already happy in the morning it seems. Anything special? " Mom asked giggling as Liya walked into the kitchen.

"Nope, nothing special. Just feeling great today. " Liya assured her suspicious mom.

"Darling, what's for breakfast today? " Liya's Dad asked as he emerged from the dining hall.

"Pancakes with chocolate sauce and a little bit of yesterday's dessert. " Mom replied smiling at him.

"How delicious! Can't wait to try it. "

"Dad, mom, I'm gonna go to Stacy's. " Liya said to her parents.

"What about breakfast hon?" Mom asked her.

"Will eat at Stacy's" Liya yelled as she opened the front door.

Enjoying the cool air hit her bare skin she thought, Life's so great. Only if she knew that soon everything was going to be in turmoil.

Putting her airpods on, she sang along with Ama Lee, her favourite singer.

Shine bright morning light

Now in the air the spring is coming

Liya reached Stacy's home before she even knew it.

"Hey girl, glad to see you. " Stacy chirped jumping onto Liya.

"Me too, aren't you gonna invite me in? "

"Come in." Stacy invited her in.

"Hey, yesterday night I couldn't sleep a tiny wink. You know, a creepy person called me at midnight. All I could hear was breathing and some strange sounds. " Stacy said to Liya in a sudden panicking voice.

"What? Are you sure? The same thing happened to me too. " Liya replied.

"Oh god, I think something bad is going on. I'm sure of it. "

"Hey, don't be overdramatic over a phone call like this. It's probably some kids trying to scare us. " Liya said.

"Yeah, you're absolutely right. " Stacy replied with a sigh of relief.

"Ugh, Stacy is it okay if I stay here overnight? If only your parents don't mind it. "

"Yeaaa, of course. I'm sure they won't mind." Stacy said excitedly.

The day was over before they could blink and open their eyes. Talking about fashion, games, boys kept them engaged and made them forget about the phone call.

The moon was shining much more than usual in the dark starry sky. The duo settled into bed together and fell asleep due to exhaustion immediately. At midnight the unknown caller woke them both them. Startled they reached for their phones.

"Liya, I'm really scared. How is this possible? It's not possible to call two people at the same time from a phone." Stacy freaked out.

"I don't know. Should we answer it? " Liya asked.

"Yeah, maybe it's just some kids playing halloween tricks. "

They both answred their respective phones and put it on speaker mode.

Heavy breathing was heard, then some chanting like murmering. Out of the blue an ear piercing scream came from the other side. Someone started wailing while calling for help.

Stacy collapsed on the bed due to shock and lost consciousness. Hearing the outburst coming from the kids room both the parents came to check up on them.

"Uncle, aunt I don't know what to do. " Liya was crying while holding her dear friend.

"What happened Liya? Why is our daughter like this? "

Liya explained everything from the beginning to the end. Shock rippled through Stacy's parents. They took Stacy to the hospital and informed Liya's parents about the creepy events too. They came rushing to the hospital and was glad to see Liya alright.

"I'm sorry Carl this happened. " Liya's dad apologized to Stacy's.

"It's okay. It was bound to happen. We can't change fate. But, I wanna know who that caller is. That person is fucking mad. How could they scare a little girl like this? " Carl was beyond furious.

"Maybe we can inform the cops. They will track the caller and identify them. "

"Yeah, I'll call them. " Carl said.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and called the cops.

"Sir, I need help. Someone with this id called my daughter and scared her real well. I want them caught by tomorrow. "

"Slow down... so can you send me the caller details? " the cop asked.

"Sure sir. Please find those responsible for my daughter's state immediately. They might do this to any other kids too. Catch them before that happens. " Carl begged to the cop.

" Don't worry sir. We'll do our best. "

Carl hung up and explained everything to everyone.

I hope they catch that person soon, Liya thought as she sat on one of the chair.

That night they spend time at the hospital by Stacy's side looking after her. Liya was feeling guilty to Stacy and her family, but they consoled her.

Morning greeted everyone with nurses running to and fro. They went to Stacy's room to know whether she was awake. But the sight they saw before them would always haunt them forever, as it was so gruesome.

Stacy's neck was slitted, her eyes gouged out and her hands and legs were teared forcefully from her body. Crimson liquid was splattered across the room walls and the bed was covered in blood too.

"No, this is not real. No.... no... my baby. Honey, wake up. Don't scare me like this." Stacy's mom wailed loudly. Her voice echoed throughout the whole hospital as the walls were not soundproof.

Lights began to flicker and they began to shatter all around. Screams were heard from the other rooms as patients rushed out of the hospital. Everyone was escorted from inside the hospital by the cops.

When they were outside a cop came towards them.

"I'm sorry Mrs and Mr.Carl for your loss. We'll definitely find the person responsible for your daughter's murder." the cop said.

"Bullshit, you all have been saying this for a while. I don't believe anyone of you. " Carl snarled angrily.

The loss of Stacy had affected him deeply and he was slowly lossing his mental and physical stability. He wanted to kill all those cops for not looking into his daughter's case earlier, for not keeping her safe even after knowing someone was after her. He wanted to make them suffer just liker his girl suffered.

His wife and others took him home and gave him time for himself as he needed to grieve for his daughter's demise.

Another restless night came. In the darkness of the night, in the moonlight a figure emerged from an alley, walking towards the deceased girl's house to end the others life as well. Dogs howled as a sign of alerting the people inside the house to the presence of the intruder.

Liya was scrolling through her phone as she was not sleepy. Hearing a creak she sat up startled. Her breathing increased and sweats came tumbling down her body. Quietly she woke up her parents and Stacy's too.

They all shocked and alarmed grabbed all the sharp objects they can from the room.Slowly, they all came downstairs in search of the intruder. Liya quietly called the cops and informed them. They promised to arrive soon with back up.

Liya was forced to stay upstairs by the adults as they feared for her life. Hearing breathing coming from near her she looked around.

There in the middle of the room stood the ghostly figure with it's eyes bulging out of it's sockets. The figure was deadly creepy as it was covered in warm thick blood with skin hanging loose from all it's body. Black liquid oozed from its mouth as it opened its mouth displaying it's long sharp fangs.

It moved towards Liya dragging it's loose skin behind with its eyes glowing red in the moonlight. All she could do was watch it with horror as she was trembling from head to toe unable to move an inch in fear. It came near her and wrapped it's bloody hands around her neck snapped it in a go.

Hearing the blood curdling scream all the others ran upstairs. They all screamed seeing the monstrous ghostly figure tearing away Liya's flesh and munching on it like it was a treat for it. Warm blood dripped from its hands as it ate the girl's body without caring whoever was standing watching it.

Blue and red lights suddenly neared the house and cops sorrouned the house. Some went into the house and they motioned the adults to go outside. After making sure everyone was outside many cops swarmed the room like predators nearing their prey.

The only thing they didn't know was ,they were eventually going to be the preys for this deadly creature.

The creature sensing danger whipped it's head towards the armed officers and pounced onto them. Many tried to escape but that was of no use. The creature ripped them all apart and dragged an officer's body with it as it came outside the house.

Seeing the creature unharmed everyone was terrified and thought they were going to be it's next prey. But to their surprise the creature turned away from them and disappeared into the dark dragging the corpse with it. Once again the dogs howled loudly as a signal of the retreat of the creature.
