Choices
There once was a young girl who had everything that she could ever want. She was dressed in the finest clothing and lived in the castle with her father, the king. The girl’s beauty compared to no one else in the kingdom. Her hair fell by her feet, for it is a symbol of power and wealth. The young princess had the longest hair of all the women to visually show her power and strength over the rest of the citizens in the kingdom. The most unusual thing about the Young princess is her blue eyes with flecks of purple. that only adds to her beauty Aloy lived without want, but all she could care about is her garden of flowers. Her prized possession is a simple, small flower, the oleander. Suitors would travel far and wide to gaze upon the beauty of Aloy and gain her hand in marriage. Though many have tried, none have been able to catch the eye of the young princess.
As Aloy tends to her garden her father emerges from the vine canopy and reaches to give her a hug. Aloy greeted her father with a smile that could light up the night sky. The king was happy to see his daughter so joyous, but he knew that she must find a husband before the next full moon, or she would no longer be eligible to rule the kingdom. If she fails to find a husband to love, she would have to cut off her hair and be exiled to live by herself. The next moon was due in a month’s time, giving princess Aloy little time to find a husband. It did not matter who she married, but that she found someone to ensure the future of the kingdom was secured.
Aloy had turned away all of the men that came to her, and she would not marry unless she found someone she could love. Though she had the choice of who to wed, she still felt helpless and trapped by the laws of her kingdom. If she could not find someone to love, she would have to marry Ivar. Ivar is only focused on his own personal gain, and is the only sutor that has yet to give up on her. The other men never came back after being rejected, leaving Ivar to be the only proposal that Aloy could accept.
Once her father left, warning her of her impending doom, she looked out to the woods contemplating what she should do. As she stared out into the thicket, a flash of silver peaked out of the trees. Unknown to what the color could belong too, Aloy began to wander closer to the edge of the forest. It was as if something was calling out to her and she no longer had any control of her feet. She then began to chase after the creature through the woods until it was out of her sight. She then realized that she had no knowledge of where she was. Aloy grew up hunting in the woods with her father, but she was no longer in the woods that she knew. This forest glimmered in the sun, with animals that had no fear of humans. And in the center of this forgotten forest, was a patch of purple oleander flowers.
Aloy had never seen purple oleanders before, only pink and yellow oldenders were in her garden. It was known that purple oleanders signify desire and destiny, as well as love. It was as if it was a sign from the viking goddess of love herself, Freyja, that perhaps there still is a chance for Aloy to find love before she must force herself into a loveless marriage. Aloy had to collect the oleanders for her garden, even the seeds were enough to contended her hope that the flowers would bring her luck in love. As she reached out for one of the flowers she was quickly knocked down by a large beast.
